Well, i have a brand new Tivo + WiFi Adapter + Expander to sell if you are interested. I bought them last week but decided to go down the HTPC path instead. I got a few $$$ and I am only looking to get back what I paid for them. Tivo for $600 (comes with 4 year HN extended warranty) WiFi for $55 Expander for $239. If you are in Melbourne you are welcome to pick up. Otherwise we can arrange competitive postage. Abut $10 for WiFi. Probably $20 for expander. $35 for Tivo. Still cheaper than you will find in a shop. And I guarantee I have not used these things. Opened the boxes, plugged them in, unplugged them, packed them up. All receipts will be provided. PM me if interested. David

dischucker Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 so he thought about it for a minute and then said "okay i'll give you the 15% off but you can't have the $50 gift card" ... i figured it was worth trying to haggle for that too and so he agreed that I could also have the $50 gift card since the gift card offer didn't say anything about not combining with other deals. I think you were lucky because the Myer catalogue says the 15% discount is "not to be used with any other offer".
Bomagone Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 I think you were lucky because the Myer catalogue says the 15% discount is "not to be used with any other offer". How is a gift card "any other offer" though? If someone bought you the gift card, it's the same as cash. If you traded credit card loyalty points for a gift card, the bank paid cash for it, so it is like cash. If you earnt them through Myerone, it is still like cash. I've bought things with Myerone vouchers recently, with price matching, which got me down to half the advertised Myer price, and they still accepted the my gift cards!

Well I went into Myer (Canberra civic) today and they had the 15% discount sign right next to the $50 gift card offer, both sitting on top of a TiVo unit. I asked the sales guy and he said yes there is no problem getting both 15% off and a $50 gift voucher. But because I had over $300 worth of DJ gift cards I walked over to them and asked if they would match the Myer deal. The guy said he could do even better and sold it to me for $588 + $50 gift voucher.

Stilted Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Dick Smiths have TIVO's at a "REDUCED TO CLEAR" item price at $599 I am assuming new TIVO model is about arrive or is DSE just getting rid of TIVO as a line??
petef Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 I am assuming new TIVO model is about arrive or is DSE just getting rid of TIVO as a line?? Don't know about DSE dropping TiVo, but there is a larger drive TiVo Due soon. Peter.
Spero D. Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Don't know about DSE dropping TiVo, but there is a larger drive TiVo Due soon.Peter. Soon= Not until Next year according to the Tivo people over on Whirlpool.
petef Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Soon= Not until Next year according to the Tivo people over on Whirlpool. I posted a response to this, but seems to have disappeared... Next year is just over 2 months away, but really I would think that Hybrid are keen to get it out before Christmas. My thoughts are that they are saying next year so they don't want people to put off buying a TiVo now, Hybrid would like to clear the current model out first. They have announced a free gift promotion which runs to the end of November from three of the TiVo retailers. It's nothing special, but here it is: Harvey Norman TiVo customers will receive a free Sunbeam popcorn maker with their purchase. JB Hi-Fi TiVo consumers will receive a free $50 Hoyts movie voucher with their purchase. The Good Guys consumers who purchase a TiVo will receive a 6-month subscription to one of six magazines: Better Homes & Gardens, Men’s Health, Women’s Health, InStyle, Practical Parenting or K-Zone. Peter.
aussiefan Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 How many programs can I record at the same time? You can record two programs at the same time while watching a third, previously recorded program. That's three things at once - this machine is quite the multi-tasker! Hey I was wondering if this works when you're not at home? My HDD only records 2 channels and watch a 3rd channel when I'm home. :S and I work a few nights a week so I'm missing out on a few shows now. Thanks!
DonR1503559521 Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Has anyone tried union shopper?? Called them today but they need a model number. can someone help me with a current model number? Thanks Don
petef Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Called them today but they need a model number. can someone help me with a current model number? For now there is still only one model available TCD663160. Peter.
DonR1503559521 Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 For now there is still only one model available TCD663160.Peter. Thanks petef, To add to my confusion I've also seen it as model K-TVO-DES-40 on the JB wbsite. Any idea if there are differences? http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/home-theatr...tivo-box/440788 Rgds, Don
petef Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Retailers often use their own codes, sometimes just to confuse consumers so that they cannot easily shop around with catalogs. But more often it is just how their inventory systems are setup. There is still only 1 TiVo sold in Australia for now. Peter.
DonR1503559521 Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Has anyone tried union shopper?? Yep, picked one up last night for $579
GregA1503560021 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Hey I was wondering if this works when you're not at home? My HDD only records 2 channels and watch a 3rd channel when I'm home. :S and I work a few nights a week so I'm missing out on a few shows now. Only if you setup a doll sitting in your chair to watch! So the TiVo then records 2 channels, and the doll can watch a previously recorded program while you're out. That way the doll won't accidentally channel surf and override the recorder, stopping it from recording 2 channels at once. ps. I presume from the :S that you're joking Note you're not supposed to be able to watch a 3rd channel while it records 2 channels, but I know my topfield allows me to watch Go while 9 & 7 are recording (because Go and 9 are transmitted together). Certainly can't record 3 though.
WhereAreTheChannels Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Hi, has anyone had any luck in buying the 1TB expander cheaply on its own? It looks like you can get it bundled at a discount, but on its own? Cheers!
GregA1503560021 Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 (edited) I guess with the $5 "amnesty" (on Nov 25) for the $199 home networking package... buying a cheap TiVo right now makes even more sense. Looks like I need to go back over this thread and find the best deals... It may be time for me to buy... ( I've kinda been hanging out for iiNet's iiTV offering....) Edited November 12, 2009 by GregA

Now that iiNet have put TiVo movie downloads into their Feezone (from Nov 18), the HNP is looking a lot more worthwhile.
petef Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Agreed. Now that iiNet have put TiVo movie downloads into their Feezone (from Nov 18), the HNP is looking a lot more worthwhile. You may be a little confused. There is no internet usage for HNP. HNP provides networking between TiVo's and PC's only on your home network. It does not use any of your ISP allowance. Movie Downloads use allowance, but HNP is not required to download movies. Peter.
