fanaki Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 I still have a BW750 , it works fine . But it won't find the new 9HD channel in Melbourne . I've tried auto scan and manual scan but no ch90 . I thought these things had mpeg2 and mpeg4 tuners so they could be sold in Aust and NZ ? Evidently not I have the same unit and have resorted to switching back to the TV so I can view the new channel because as you have stated, unfortunately, the BW750 doesn't have mpeg4 capability
plumgas Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 (edited) these are the pansonic models that tune into MP4 stations The following Panasonic recorder models support MPEG- http://eng-au.faq.panasonic.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/34853 Edited December 20, 2015 by plumgas

GOBMax Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 (edited) Mate next door and another in Harvey Bay Qld, http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php/topic/76984-panasonic-dmr-bw750-bw850-bluray-recorders/page-17 and me in Bribie Island Qld, both have Panasonic DMR-BWT955GL, 3 Tuner PVR, + 850 Twin Combo Unit. plus I can play my Music/Disks/Copy Free to Air to DVD/Blu-Ray, also have Beyonwiz T3, as well. With Channel 9/90 (HD)+ 92 (Gem) + Go-93.95. He is experiencing problems and thought it was PVR, 1. Suggested that he unplug all connections, wait 3/5 minutes Then power down PVR, re-connect and power Up. 2. Do the above If, PVR or TV can't find 9/90 Channels they can't access MPEG Upgrades, this was after 2 page announcement in Local Rag. 3. Mate has found TV, 12 months old, & PVR/TV are not the problem. TV Areal is 3 years old, and should picked up new HD Signals, he can get various HD Channels. But he cannot access 9 HD , but can get 512 signal reception. Sounds like Channel Nine's at fault. + I'm Getting all no prob's., Mate has marginal improvement Mostly in the overall setup ," but as he said I'm in Paradise" TV is just a distraction' He was Looking forwarded to HD Footy next year. plumgas Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 @GOBMax, I was thinking on buying the 955 or the 750 are you happy with the 955. I would prefer the 750 as black matches all my other equipment and it seems to me the only difference is the disk size & the extra tuner.
GOBMax Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 (edited) 1. Yes more than happy with 955, it has 2014/2015 Hardware & Firmware/Software. 2. 750/850 can be 2009/2010 hardware, even though same Firmware/software. 3. Might be wrong, but 955 seems to have less quirky software problems, WI-Fi is better. +Tuning is so easy. Also have Beyonwiz T3 but it's not as good/user friendly as originals and step back compared to Panasonic. Used to be reference point for members of Aunts Stroke club members. plumgas Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 purchased the 955 today for $598 so far very happy. netflix apps works fine. plays video files from the plex media server. blu-rays look better on this than the samsung F8900. FTA tuners are good everything looks excellent. such a improvement from the BW780. I have the new apple tv and netflix looks better on this panasonic If panasonic put the eject button the remote things would be perfect. they seem only to put the on dvd [layers & recorders for some reason.
zorg1503559539 Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 I have the 530GL purchased in the recent DSE sales for $36.70.. 500gb model.
GOBMax Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 "plumgas", Yes I Agree , But Remote has so many buttons, maybe it's Panasonic's way, to say get out of Bed or off your arse and do something active, recently recovering from Cancer Op , have been ++++ plus person my whole life. Plus 955 has helped, T3 has frustrated ( to a degree).
plumgas Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 does anyone know how to close the freeview plus banner off when you change the channel. panasonic state in settings turn off data application service off but i can't find that listed. turning HbbTV Setting to off is all I can see.
Seak Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 'Data application service' is TV HbbTV on/off while 'HbbTV Setting' is recorder HbbTV on/off
plumgas Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 HbbTV switched off does not show banner . switched to on Hbbtv banner appears and you can use the red & yellow buttons to select the catch up program from the guide.
Tober27 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I have a recent problem, possibly a setting, that has come up recently. I would search elsewhere for a solution but don't know how to describe it well enough to find it mentioned anywhere. Basically, on some blu-ray discs, the recent Marvel movies in particular, during regular playback of the movie the chapter titles and thumbnail picture come up at the bottom of the screen throughout the movie. This is annoying when you want to sit back and watch the movie, especially with someone who hasn't seen it. I don't know how to make them stop, or why they're coming up. This picture, low quality, shows how it looks. Any help? http://imgur.com/GQ5zBGX

Tober27 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 which model is it happening on Oh, sorry, thought it went without saying because of the thread. It's the Panasonic Dmr-Bw850.
plumgas Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) haven't seen this before maybe its disk related. I would assume if its the player it would happen on all disks Edited January 7, 2016 by plumgas
Tober27 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) haven't seen this before maybe its disk related. I would assume if its the player it would happen on all disks Yes, I think it must be a certain type of disk, as it did it with 4 Marvel movies I watched in a row, but then not the next random movie I watched. Seems like the type of thing they always used to say update your firmware for, because new discs play differently, or something like that. Unfortunately, no new firmware for this old Panasonic. But if anyone's seen this and knows how to make it stop, I'd certainly appreciate it. Edited January 7, 2016 by Tober27
Seak Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 (edited) Have you tried turning off 'BD Live' ? Edited January 8, 2016 by Seak
Tober27 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Have you tried turning of 'BD Live' ? I did unplug its network connection when I couldn't remember where to turn it off. I guess I'll try to find the setting and switch it off if that might make a difference. Is there reason BD Live might effect it?
Tober27 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 More info on problem, I think. I had noticed previously that it was not occurring on every chapter, but seemed random. Could watch an hour of the movie and it didn't happen, then they would start coming up. And still only noticed on Marvel movies so far. These are also from the US, but region free. I took out my SD card and unplugged the LAN connection, in case BD LIve would make a difference, and while watching the next Marvel movie, Ant-Man, for the first 80 minutes the chapters did not appear on screen, then they started to. What I noticed this time (and possibly unnoticed the previous times) was that my timer recordings of live TV had started. While I don't know why this would make a difference, it seems to be the only variable I've noticed. And I guess the BDs are NTSC as well.
wheelz Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 And I guess the BDs are NTSC as well. BD's are neither ntsc or pal

Suspect it may have something to do with the limited processing power available interacting with bd live being turned off tober ? I imagine there is a menu setting for bdlive apart from yanking the rg45 ? The studios are always experimenting with branching titles [ as a drm feature ] if youve ever used dvdfab there is no standard Do the new models have the same setback as my old dmr x30 or even newer models ? ie you cant play back a mkv or mp4 file over the network while recording fta at the same time ?
