jamesj Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Yeah tell me about it. just bought two of them and will try the aspect settings , thanks guys. Now to USB, it clearly shows in the DG HD8040 manual USB PORT FOR USB software upgrade AND reading files . It even shows you a snap shot of screen viewing JPEG, BMP and MP3 files. so there is no confusion here just a monumental blunder from DGTEC for releasing the wrong upgrade or box or manual! , either way it amounts to false advertising at the least. Got mine from Tandy and they didn't know about USB or hadn't had any calls about it I gather. Tried all day yesterday and finally got through to DGTEC "Tecnician" today and first he tried to say it was only for upgrade so I directed him to manual and has promised to ring back with more info in 1/2 hour....mmmmm. 1 hour still waiting. I will post outcome I have been trying to get my usb port working on this device as well, I once got the usb menu up but have not been able to get it back since or view any files. In the dg-hd8040 manual it says that in the menu tree you will find the usb menu selection after "installation" then should come the "USB menu" but on mine it is "Version info". Does this thing real read any files on a usb device?
dudley jordan smith Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 I have a DG-HD8040 high definition digital set top box and have it set up with my TECO tv set to receive SBS channels 31 and 32 - unfortunately even though tuning for these channels i have unable to receive them - TECO N121, model # TA32N1PR. Do others have this problem and what is the solution?

Do others have this problem and what is the solution? I once had a dg tech stb as well long before we got mpeg4 channels in Aus . A quick glance at the manual suggests its only an early mpeg2 tuner Dudley so cant receive any of our mpeg4 channels . If your Teco is a newer model and it has a built in tuner plug your rf lead into it and you should be able to tune in a large number of mpeg4 channels . Mpeg4 compression means more channels can be crammed into the same bandwidth as mpeg2 uses.. Otherwise get a new modern pvr like a fetch mighty; topfield or beyonwiz that have mpeg2/4 tuners . DG Tech got a bit of a reputation in the early days of dtv as unreliable ;so don't chance a doggy tech pvr btw [as they earned that moniker ]
