MattWinter Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 "Subscription to ESPN will cost £12.99 per month but the cost of watching live Scottish Premier League football is set to more than triple, from last season's monthly figure of £12.50 for Setanta, to £44.50.Viewers who subscribed to Setanta last season could receive every single live Scottish Premier League game on offer. The new deal with Sky Sports and ESPN means that viewers will also have to subscribe to both Sky Sports channels - they will have the rights to Old Firm games - at £31.50 per month." Jesus that's a bit pricey, and people complain about the price of Foxtel here. If you have at the Sky UK Packages and you just want the sports channels ie All the Sky Sports channels and ESPN it ends up costing you £44.50 a month or AUS$88.50 the same package here only costs you here $56 The sports channels in the UK are certainly very pricey, but everything else is awesome value - you get a heap of channels without paying any monthly fees. Can combine your tv subscription with fast, unlimited downloads broadband as well.
Deaf Bhoy Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Scottish Sun: Pay-per-phew TV Ali Douglas is Sky's presenter for their SPL coverage Pity she's a bear I hope Setanta Australia will be showing both Sky and ESPN full match coverage and not just crossing to the game when it's kickoff time

Hopefully it will result in more live serie A, bundesliga, etc because they can go straight from one game to the other.

Pre match, half time and post match analysis adds to the coverage, interesting to note Fox Sports does this for AFL, NRL, Union and A-League. The international feeds (I think TWI) improved last year using 2 commentators instead of one but a general pre match, half time and post match analysis I think will remain on the fans wishlist. Another reason for SkySports News to be introduced. What I will miss from Setanta UK is the football shows and other quality content. It will be interesting if ESPN UK introduces programming to compliment their SPL/EPL coverage and ESPN Australia screens programming here. Press Pass 5 days a week could be it regarding expanded coverage. Have heard ESPN UK has signed up Rebecca Lowe! I am looking for confirmation that La Liga won't be on the normal ESPN channel as it has been all these years. I can not believe they would make such a cynical short sighted strange decision.

Spanish Primera is on ESPN and ESPN HD in our part of the world. Do the research guys...
ATK Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Spanish Primera is on ESPN and ESPN HD in our part of the world.Do the research guys... The ESPN Soccernet website under ESPN PacRim listings has no mention of Spanish Primera but Italian football is listed for those times on the weekend of 30 August but these listings could change in 4 weeks. Hopefully it will be screened, no feedback from ESPN yet!

I've emailed ESPN Australia and hopefully everything will be clearer regarding there coverage of Spanish football, I'll post if I get anything from them. With Fronty's information and the PacRim listings everything points to ESPN HD screening Spanish football.

ozasis Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 you guys are hopeless...http://intltv.espn.com/schedules/sport/spo...d.jsp?Wizard=37 I did a search under "All" futbol and selected both ESPN Australia and ESPN HD Australia, and I see no La Liga listed. Plenty of PressPass, Serie A, UCL, Europa and what not, but no La Liga?

Plenty of PressPass, Serie A, UCL, Europa and what not, but no La Liga? I did a search as well selected soccer(futbol) and ESPN Australia from 31 July 09 to 30 Sept 09 and it listed Press Pass (mostly between 7pm - 7:30pm (AEST time ), international qualifiers, UCL, Europa, Serie A (mostly 3 games per week) and Spanish Primera "La Liga" (3 games per week) with 2 games of those screening on Sunday in our region. Serie A from 23/24 August and La Liga from 30/31 August. Edited July 31, 2009 by ATK

Fronty Posted August 3, 2009 Author Posted August 3, 2009 Up until a week or so ago ESPN did not have La Liga listed on their monthly schedule for September FACT! A few of us on here noticed this and I took it upon myself to e mail ESPN asking them if they are going to be showing it this season.... Af ew day laters La Liga was all of a sudden on the schedule so I make a little joke that it must have been my E mail.... Then you go around like some sort of expert on all things Sports TV saying people have NFI You're a nasty piece of work Kozzi aren't ya??

I can confirm that ESPN had no mention of La Liga untill about a week ago. I also emailed them about this - as they have a track record of responding to these sorts of queries. Give it a rest Kozzi.
Fronty Posted August 3, 2009 Author Posted August 3, 2009 Apparently La Liga will be exploring the concept of earlier kick offs in a similar vein to the EPL's 12:45 saturday/13:30 sunday matches either this season or maybe next.... They are looking at ways to embrace the prime time Asian TV market.

I answered your question by providing the relevant information. I, unlike yourself, had reason to question Fronty's info because it didn't make sense. Ignorance is no excuse.
