Khoi,

Hard to say what they would sell for in Australia. Overseas, a pair of B&W 802 Matrix Series 2 sell for a price of between $700 and $2500 dependent on condition. Here is an example that sold last year in Canada for $1600.

If they were mine, priceless ....they will sell for around the 2-3k mark, but will compare with speakers in another league.

I agree with the other comments. I sold a pair a few years back for $2.5k. Far too cheap, IMO. It would be difficult to find a brand new pair of speakers to equal them for less than $10k.

Hi Khoi,

IT is hard to decide the price of high end speaker especially from B&w. The price from Ebay may be cheap but if you import from state for the speaker it may cost 2k for shipping.

I bought brand new B&w N803 for 7k about 7 year ago. I hopel it will serve me well for another 10 year.

Hi

My vintage one B&W 802 series 80 look similar except it is a seal box design, what I do not like about it is the speaker terminal post too small and close to each other and the auto protect . But it still a good one compare to some newer speaker( sound wise ) , I think I am going to keep it , not worth selling ( some one offer me $800 for it ) .

Just as an aside, the guy I just sold my tube pre / SS power combo to bought it as he was just getting into audio - as he was given a pair of B&W 803.

A guy offered me a pair of old Sony bookshelves the other day .. not quite the same thing...

Have you played with positioning - moving the speakers closer to the walls may give the bass a lift (hopefully not boomy). Other than perhaps experimenting a bit with speaker cables (if you have access to any others), the best option is to look at room treatments, especially if they are trying to fill a larger room.

Hi Danter

Thanks for the input , unfortunately the speaker bass breathing hole is located in front not on the back or down firing , we have try some of the marble under the speaker but no improving at all.

Hi

This type of speaker lack of deep bass , mine has freq res from 55Hzto 20KhZ +- 2dB according to booklet that and each speaker has a clear paper that plotted its freq response with with hand writing and signature on it, the sensitivity of 85dB, It likes plenty of clean power ( manual say it need min of 50W and no upper limited ) at that point it become alive, I drive it with 25W firstwatt F5 it sound good with low base ( but not deep like home theater movie bass), drive it with 20W ( 845 SE )valve, bass is abit less but mid become alive . You might try to mod crossover , link below

I will try mod mine latter when I have time.

Here are things to try:

Relocate the speakers.

Damp the room.

Dump the amp.

The 802s are an excellent speaker, but are very amplifier sensitive. They need a very good amp to perform well.

Thanks again for your input Zap

Does the combo MF Nusvista 300 amp is not quality enough to drive the BW 802s?

The speaker sit in the room with carpet , however the room's floor is suspended , do you think the acoustic panel will help ?

Not in my opinion. MF products are fashion statements, not serious audio products (in the main). Others may dispute that opinion. See if you can borrow a good quality amp to try.

Unlikely. Acoustic panels tend to work at mid and high frequencies. LF is determined largely by the room dimensions and speaker placement.

Maybe this speaker just doesn't do proper low bass judging from the on paper response of 55Hz - 22kHz and notice the words in the Canadian advert ... " The price include the B&W matrix 802 filter that enhance the bass." Sounds like even B&W admit that it doesn't do low bass if bass enhancement is required.

In which case,a high quality outboard bass module (sub) is your best option for better bass.

Thanks Meganinja! Much appreciated on elaborating products pros and cons, but I need your opinion about online store where to buy?

Except that they don't look like fashion statements. More a poor mans audiophile product.

But I think we're being harsh. Their top end stuff still looks ordinary but is not far below the best around and for about half the price. It's their budget end stuff that's crap in nearly all respects. I modified a A3cr preamp a few years ago and managed to improve performance quite a bit. It was hindered by cheap coupling caps and a design flaw that caused slew limiting and HF transient overshoot. After a slight redesign and some component upgrades it was a top quality preamp with measurements to match.

I think that's the main problem with MF. They sell large volumes and release new models faster than they can print the manuals, but the result is design flaws and incomplete circuit optimisation to frustrate the end user.

I have not much info about stores; I found good review about 802.
