Dilmar Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I'm thinking of ordering a home theatre in a box from Amazon US (delivery to my cousin who lives there and then he sends to Aust), but its power rating is 120V. Would I be able to use it in Aust at 240V or would it blow up? If it can't be used, can it be converted to 240V?
pistol Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 You would need a step down transformer, I don't think it'd be worth while getting a HTIB imported from the states, what are you looking at? Also how much are you looking at spending?

Looking at a Sony HT-IS100 (the one with the golf ball speakers). Discontinued in Aust but still available from Amazon for a very low price.
pistol Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 So what is your budget? I don't think it'd work out to be that great of a deal. also www.shipitto.com would probablly be cheaper to foward it to you as they get better shipping rates than a person off the street can get. Hope that helps.

Hope that helps. Thanks Pistol. The budget's not the issue - I'd be happy to buy the unit here at local prices, but can't find it anywhere. It has features I like (small speakers and AV receiver integrated into sub-woofer) that I can't seem to find in any HTIBs available in Aust (unless I'm missing something).
pistol Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 G'day, fair enough, if that's what you want, however there are many advantages of getting separate components. ie receiver, speakers and subwoofer and it can be done for a reasonable price. If you want small speakers, check out the Energy Take speakers, you can get them from U.S. Ebay and they are very cheap.
