Galvin Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 I went to order the danny green fight on main event tonight, an it was nearly $50! Who are foxtel kidding. I will not pay that sort of money for a few hours of tv. It may even only go for a few minutes, danny has a record of knocking people out early on in the fight. I thought the main events were only about $15. Are they always this expensive?? Is there anyone out there who is willing to pay this sort of money?

I thought most people just watch it at the pub.
doodlefeatures Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 (edited) I always thought that was a pretty standard price, I've never bought anything but I've had a look a few times and the wrestling is usually around that price too Edited December 1, 2009 by doodlefeatures
darockk Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 yes its always been that price. you get all the fights leading up to the main bout too. just get a couple of mates over and everyone pitches in... does anyone know if the fight is in HD?
bigcon84 Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 This is Danny Greens first real fight, hes beaten noone. And Roy Jones wont get knocked out, if Green wins it will be on points. If anyone wins by knockout it would be Roy Jones Jr. And I would be predicted him to put Green down at around the 7 / 8 round mark. Dude go to your local pub. The card is not worth $50.

A free tip for free main events or movies, have your phone line connected, get to the point where the amount comes up, then disconnected your phone and press (yes to pay for it) You will get about 4-5 main event for free as long as you don't have you phone line connected full time! It will store this on smart card for end of month dump back to foxtel, if the phone is not connected the info is left on your smart card! Yes it's not right and all that but foxtel make heaps from us so ! Merry Xmas Happy times! Mc I watched it for free as did my Dad after telling how to do it! And it was awesome! 2.22 fantastic for The Green machine! Edited December 2, 2009 by mchuelio
MattWinter Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 I really can't imagine anyone paying for it. I guess pubs like foxtel charging high prices though.
wheelz Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 I get all of danny's fights, have a few mates over and a bbq and all put in a couple of bucks, works out heaps cheaper and you dont get all the agro and dickheads that you do at the pub.

Mc Considering your smartcard only allows you to store $50 of PPV on it ($100 if it has called back within the last month) I dont see how you can get 4-5 Main Events for free...
Iglesia Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 (edited) I really can't imagine anyone paying for it. I guess pubs like foxtel charging high prices though. I'll be paying for it. There's no way I'll be hanging around at a pub until midnight on a Wednesday night. The undercard is one of the worst I've ever seen, but I still want to watch the main bout. MattWinter Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 So - who paid $50 for two minutes of sport :D :D Boxing's never going to win new supporters when you have to pay $50 to watch one good fight on TV.

I paid $50 for 5 hours and 6 fights, and that included 2 of the greatest minutes in the history of Australian sport. Edit - It also helped that I had $300 on Green @ $3.50 on Betfair, so all in all it was a good night......$1050 - $50 (Foxtel) = $1000 up on the night. Edited December 2, 2009 by Iglesia

rhysxanthis Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Boxing Main Events have always been up near the $40-$50 mark, so it's nothing new. But if you're a fan (I'm not) you know that you might only get 30 seconds or all 12 rounds of coverage from the main fight. Happy Green won though!

darockk Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 stupid pub couldnt even show the fight in the correct aspect ratio...it was all stretched horizontally, on every tv screen too

timy Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Lol $25 dollars per minute to watch main event. Go Danny Green what a great effort. Boxing is always a main event gamble. Thats why I wont pay for it.
Aussie Villan Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Lol $25 dollars per minute to watch main event. Go Danny Green what a great effort. Boxing is always a main event gamble. Thats why I wont pay for it. What a rip! I was so satisfied that I didn't pay for the event as the whole two-minute bout was replayed no longer than five minutes after Green's KO! I got to see the whole fight for free and it was like it was live. Foxtel are muppets. If i paid for it, I'd expect the coverage to be embargoed for at least an hour or two!!!
Hosko Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Foxtel are muppets. If i paid for it, I'd expect the coverage to be embargoed for at least an hour or two!!! How exactly to you embargo the news??
rhysxanthis Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 How exactly to you embargo the news?? Ask our benevolent leader, the great Kim Jong-il
laurie Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Does Danny Green gets any money from Main Event/Foxtel on top of the prize money.I assume out of the $50 he would get a percentage from Main Event or Foxtel? cheers laurie
