Simon,

To give you a quick idea, imagine a cube 30 x 30 x 30 then take out the slanted bits :)

I have been slack - well busy really - to take photos but I will later on tonight if I get a chance. If you are interested in a set let me know ;) I might be getting rid of one of the two sets I bought.

Regards

Arthur

ps I fired them up and blended it quite nicely as rear surrounds. I havent unboxed the second set

FYI~ I have a couple new powered subwoofers that I just introduced and have on sale. They're getting some very positive reviews.

Its a real shame the Orbit Shifter doesn't work on 240v Jeff. I'd be keen on one otherwise.

Awesome Jeff well done. I've been following your progress on the Orbit Shifter (great name) and I'm glad it's receiving excellent reviews. Also wanted to update you on my setup which now all JTR except the sub. I was able to get a pair of Slanted 8's from a fellow forum member here and just wanted to ask, is it ok to have them upside down with the vented port at the bottom? I can't wall mount these so I have them currently on stands on their flattest side.

Despite the NAD pre-pro issues (normal Audyssey XT with Dynamic EQ off), I watched Avatar last night and the sound these JTR's are producing is incredible. Very clear, sharp and accurate and precise. Very happy with them Jeff you've made a HT user very happy.

Those Growler Duo's are BEASTS :)

A pair of those in room set to LOW mode would be more than anyone would ever really need. Im sure Gior would some out still find a way to push them past their limits :P

Wow, has it really been 7 months since I've been on here? I now offer a small but powerful speaker called the Single 8HT and an all new Captivator subwoofer. The international plate amplifier will be available come march.

I'm interested in replacing the Slanted 8's with these. Would I be getting a better result using these with my 3 8HT's (Front 3 speakers)? In other words would it be worthwhile in updating from the Slanted 8's?

Also have you updated the 12HT's from last year? I thought I read somewhere that you updated the tweeter on them is this true? I'm simply loving the 8HT's and I'm seriously thinking of upgrading to the 12's :).

Hi Jeff,

How are the 240v plate amps going?

I'm looking at getting a full JTR setup but am not sure which subs to get. I can't decide between 2x Orbit Shifter LF or 2x powered Captivators running 15hz tune. What are the main differences between these two? Will the Orbit Shifters play lower in room compared with the Captivators?

The new Single 8HT, Single 8HT-lp (low profile) and Slanted 8HT all received a completely new, high quality coaxial which is much more powerful plus the cabinets are now made from 25mm thick baltic birch plywood (as is the Triples and Captivator). For 2011 all loudspeakers recieved a new compression driver (tweeter) for improved sound quality and reduced distortion.

The Orbit Shifter is twice the size, has more output and has a roll off that mates in well with room gain for single digit frequency reproduction however the Captivator has broken things in every room of my home and even caused damage to walls. The last I heard about the 240v amplifiers is that they would be ready in march and its march so hopefully soon.

Well after reading about JTR speakers nearly 2 years ago on AVS I've finally saved up the funds and placed my order this morning.

Getting the following:

2x Orbit Shifter LF

3x Triple 8HT

2x Slanted 8TH

2x Single 8HT-lp

I can't wait to get these speakers up and running in my HT.

since you have the t8 and the s8 can you tell us how they compare against each other? i guess i am wondering if the single 8 is equal to the t8 for centre channel duties . thanks in advance. jeff

I don't know how a Single 8 would be like as a center channel but I'm thinking that a Triple 8 with 3 drivers would be a better sounding solution than a Single 8. But in saying that I have not heard a Single 8 as they have a new driver I believe and the Slanted 8's have been improved as well (mine would be deemed the older model now). I like the sound the Slanted 8's have but have not tested one and used it for center duty. I know Mark Seatons Sparks are used as a complete front stage (there powered) but have a similar design I believe as the Single 8's.

Maybe Jeff can chime in and answer that question for you.
