Hi Simon

I know this thread is a bit old but I'm interested in the JTR speakers but am not to sure if I can get away with the Triple 8's or would need the Triple 12's

If you don't mind me asking what dimensions is your room?

Hi Bsaac. My room is approx 5.2m long and 3.5m wide. The triple 8HT's are overkill for my room but I wanted to buy once and forget, plus the price was really good at the time (maybe better with the aussie dollar now). Customs for me was a nightmare but others who have imported speakers have had zero issues. Jeff was excellent to deal with and replied to my e-mails in a timely manner.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Simon

My room is 4.5 x 6.5 based on your experience do you think the triple 8's fill a room this size?

My room is roughly the same 4.5 x 6.9 and have the 12HTs and they are amazing. An impressive speaker for its price. I have had them for over a year now and quite happy. If I were to upgrade it would be the Seatons. I am really amazed how well they perform with movies that have quite a musical soundtrack to them, like Princess and the Frog, but they perform just as nicely with Iron Man etc.

Excellent Arthur awesome speaker the 12's. Would loved to get them at the time but there too big and I had no room at the to place one on it's side as a centre channel (had a lowline unit at the time). I'm sure they sound amazing.

Simon,

Did you used to have Legend Kangas for the rears? Was it much of a stepup going to the slanted 8's?

Just asking because I currently have some old Sony stereo Speakers (well past their useby date) in combination with 3 x T8's as the front stage. I want to upgrade the rears and are thinking about single 8HT-LP, but still short on funds. I'm very happy with the T8's though, have had them for a year now. I guess the options are to hold out and go for the JTR's when I have the cash, or find something locally. The Sony's were always a temporary fix and just don't cut it.

Cheers

The Kangas did intergrate very nicely as rears but I wanted all matching drivers but it's all subjective and imo I prefer the slanted 8's. They just blend in better and are seemless. I would like to upgrade one day to single 8's (LP) as rears as that are easier to place on a speaker stand as opposed to the slanted ones which are designed to be mounted on the wall. I currently have them on stands so they point slighly down but I have them angled towards the main listening position and they sound excellent.
