One of the biggest problems I had with my iPhone was the fact that all my music was in FLAC format which ment that to listen to it on the go, I had to convert them to M4A format. I'm sure a lot of you have experienced the same thing. I know you can jailbreak them and put Rockbox on to play FLAC, but that's an annoying process as well.

So Optus rang me the other day and said I can have a new mobile phone, I thought I might wait for the new v4 iPhone to come up, but had a look at what was on offer anyway.

Yesterday my Sony Ericcson Xperia X10 (bit of a mouthfull) arrived, and I'm loving the alternative :) . It runs the Google Android OS, and so after installing a free app from the Android Market (think iTunes store) called AndLess, which is a very basic lossless audio file player, I can now simply listen to all my music. The sound is very good, I would have to say it's cleaner and crisper than the iPhone, but it could be that new toy euphoria again.

The good thing about it is, I can just connect it to my PC and drag and drop whatever albums I want onto it, just like a USB drive. It's so easy.

Anyway, just thought I'd share :)

Yeah I've been using a Google Nexus One for the last week (running Andoid).

Love being able to play FLAC on it, love the drag and drop of files. I also got the Google desktop dock for next to the bed hooked up to a pair of powered speakers and its great to use as a system in the bedroom. Very happy with the sound quality.

The integration with all google apps is fantastic (gmail, finance, places, goggles, reader etc.)

Was excited.

Tried the htc desire that a mate got recently.

All nice, felt a teeny bit less responsive than the 3gs, no biggie.

But the apps... The apps...

Bloomberg, Reuters, nytimes, orb (you gotta try to believe), simplify music, etc... Not there yet... Scratch android for now...

I wish I had have waited for some more Android phones to be available instead of buying an iPhone. :)

I could have written my own apps in java for an Android phone, but because proprietary apple restricts development to an apple based system I can not develop apps for my own phone :)
