Of course they get around this as they is not default mode basically every car with a bimodal exhaust is getting away with things right now and always have …my last car also had a bimodal exhaust The A45s sound is loud, quiter than some like Mustang or GT63 etc. Its also somewhat fake as a microphone picks up the exhaust noise and pumps it through the Burmeister sound system!

Oh no… can assure you it’s a whip crack you hear from way down the road ! Nothing fake about it ! This is a45 not later a45s in case talking about that one - no idea on that heard friends a45 coming over in his with whip cracks ! long before he actually turned up at my place he had nothing piped over burmeister system either. Even my a250 I had at time had a nice sporty cackle in sport mode, nothing piped in either this was from outside Could hear standing outside On the m140i I had it certain,y piped in sounds via speakers, but again with its bimodal switched across to sport mode could certainly hear the sporty exhaust … the piped in is really so can hear it, with way car is insulated could have got an akropovic exhaust for it, but southern bmw told me even the basic one was going to be waking up the street when fire up in the morning am sure there are a lot of very loud stock cars though the rs3 is good example… Edited October 11, 2022 by betty boop 1

I know, have owned one the last 2 yrs. Its louder than current RS3, quiter than M2, C63. If you drive sensibly in suburban areas its as quiet as any other car. Its only under hard acceleraion or down shifting you get all the gunshots, crackles etc. I guess like the i30N requires common sense and consideration of others. Akrapovic is way way louder. 1

Akrapovic is way way louder. a lot of cars are doing fake now days…as mentioned my last car was same, though had nice sports mode exhaust, too quiet with insulation In cabin, why they had the piping in via stereo I think we are talking different a45, I’m talking original edition,no piping no burmeister…I actually appreciated the real exhaust on the a250 even vs the very fake soundakator on golf gti I had prior…where vw would wobble the windshield and firewall adding nvh ! I agree you can drive these without too much public nuisance factor( which is why police pulled over i30N for in us) I’ve only ever been pulled over once was in a Holden Gemini back in day with a sports exhaust… police lady asked me to rev the engine …I very gently pressed the throttle was sent off on my way … anyways with move to evs I guess all this might be less a factor … I’m enjoying the little jet fighter like whistle my mini ev makes when stick the boot in But appreciate many folks want to make their own noise … 3

Perhaps that was something in later models? 1

Because of the vocal nature of the A45 the kids christened it Roary - and that name has stuck 1
betty boop Posted May 31, 2024 Author Posted May 31, 2024 looks like nearly $10k saving EOFY if looking for a golf gti as hot hatch https://www.drive.com.au/news/2024-volkswagen-golf-gti-drive-away-offer/?
betty boop Posted June 6, 2024 Author Posted June 6, 2024 golf R club sport coming that will be lighter and more powerful. one of reasons the gti is a nicer machine is due to being lighter on its feet.. be interesting what VW pulls off with this last golf R before switching to EV... Volkswagen wants to make an even hotter Golf R before EV switch https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-news/volkswagen-wants-to-make-an-even-hotter-golf-r-before-ev-switch “On the one hand, it’s [the Golf R] a torquey, road-going sports car. On the other hand, because it’s a bit heavier, it’s not a track tool. “This car [in development] will be a mule for the future. I really hope that we can convince them.” According to Mr Hube, a Golf R Clubsport would be lighter, more powerful and use a revised suspension setup in the aim of slashing lap times at the track.
RockandorRoll Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 Im not sure Golf R owners would want that, especially if they rip out seats, sound deadening, tech to make it lighter. These are all the things that make the Golf R what it is. Limited production run like the Morizo Corolla, or Type R S, or Trophy-R, maybe. Then the die hards could get it, but I'm not sure a diehard Golf R owner exists.
betty boop Posted June 13, 2024 Author Posted June 13, 2024 Alpine's first EV hot hatch ... ! great to see as an ev they havent gone for a stupid 0-100 and it does 0-62mph in 6.4sec whcih is quite adequate, clearly they are aiming for good handling instead and no doubt some renault magic there as the reviewer says how does it compare to the mini ? its 200 kg less than the mini .. the new one i imagine so about same weight as the superseded mini ev .. this will be great !
betty boop Posted June 13, 2024 Author Posted June 13, 2024 gosh from late brake show.. a290 is really taking a LOT from the a110 ! just a hot hatch... with similar weight and 0-100 of superseded mini ev.. this is going to feel fast and with all potential of renault magic handling... great overview here from late brake show... alpine is now what renault sport used to be and really a great effort here... there are even 4 michelin wheels for the alpine that they worked with michelin on,

No mention of Perfohub, mechanical LSD or hydraulic bump stops so not sure its in the same league. But i only watched Petrol Peds launch video, others may have mentioned they these are included The E Diff might do some magic but i don't think there is a motor on each hub like other 'EV Hot Hatches'

lucmor444 Posted June 17, 2024 Posted June 17, 2024 I believe the Alpine is at least using hydraulic bump stops.
betty boop Posted June 18, 2024 Author Posted June 18, 2024 New cupra born vz 1st drive …faster version of the cupra born ev …rwd and quite fast in straight line … 240kw and 545 nm torque big 20” wheels …but quite a heavy car …nearly 2000kg… still apparently quick 0-100 5.7 sec and handles, rides and brakes well according to review below. Imagine due to weight some will challenge it being called a hot hatch ..but it’s fast and apparently a very good every day car.
betty boop Posted July 13, 2024 Author Posted July 13, 2024 bit of a short little fun YouTube from Drivemad who own both fun little cars in the mini ev and abarth 595 - one for the traffic light racers .. which will win the 0-60mph(0-100) and the rolling 30-60mph ? reminds me of this petrol vs electric run done around a go cart track ..
