hehe been a couple of years with the golf gti mel, another one to go.

hyundia ? the new one looks a good car but what the hell makes them come up with such overstyled interiors...almost look a bit whacky !

the veloster is an interesting thing.

look my requirements 5 doors. DSG or equivalent, dont really want a manual or an auto. hot hatch performance ie a 0-100 in gti territory. and leather interior. panoramic glass roof or sun roof. some sort of ipod capability. thats it. not sure asking too much...

re the alfa 1750 now wish it would come with alfa's new dct...but it doesnt for some bizare reason... yep sticking with the dub it looks like :D

sounds like the Giulietta is the lady fo you al, here at MUCK you can get one for under 44k ...free coffee and a "wash" (leather and roof an extra 4k,)

very difficult to marry the 1750 turbo with an automatic geabox al, hasnt been done across any of the models

re the Hyundai interior, yeah LoL, I was going to include a comment in the post saying "that satnav in the centre looks more like the intructions on how to use the dashboard"

...but I didnt

hey mel, yes I just wish the QV came with the DCT, but then who knows by next year....

same with the the citroen ds4...no EGS on the top model golf equiv...maybe next year...and maybe by then the french can figure out how to make its back passenger windows to go up and down as well

other option keen to see how pans out is the merc a250...hope doesnt get too pricey. it ticks all boxes otherwise

and keen to see what brings in the peugeot 208 :)

just glancing over horizon now. come early next year I'll head out do some demoing, test drives. look at end of it if the golf is still got it by that stage I'll stick with it. dont need change for change sake.

Would you really want to be seen in a Hyundai? at least this one looks ok. And, yes, they are improving, but I think the badge still says "cheap" and will do so for a few more years.

not a bad car for its category...Im guessing after luxury tax they will try and wrestle $55-60K out of you (about 10k more than its worth)

luxury car tax threshold is $59,133 so no luxury tax A250 is well below. bog standard A250 is $49k + orc. for me would mean could change over my lease from my golf gti to an a250 and wont cost me anymore :)

yep standard car is fully loaded, amg interior, amg brakes, wheels, exhaust, suspension, tuning of engine and dual clutch transmission etc. plus glass roof, media interface usb, parking, rear camera so good value I think. Golf gti costs a tad more optioned the same and compared to say the bmw 125i that would cost $15k more optioned up to match.

Not in a "hot" hatch??????

SUVs and load luggers fair enough, but give me turbo petrol for a Hottie!

of course, what was i thinking

Check its ride comfort on the hwy over bumps, i just googled a review that wasnt too favourable of the stiffened sports suspension over dips in the top of the range model. Bog suspension might be easier on the backside...check things like that out for yourself is my advice

just throwing what i found...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/car-manufacturers/mercedes-benz/9656346/Driven-Mercedes-Benz-A250-AMG-Sport.html

( grain of salt disclaimer with that particular review but the comment underneath is interesting)

I would compare it to the QV Giuli or Scirocco...Giulietta has a twin clutch married to a 1.4 now, not as powered as the 250, but the 1.7 manual Giuli would still outdo the A250 2.0L

you dont mention beemer 1 series when talking about hot hatches. LoL

Yes cant wait to check out. Don't go on overseas reviews as there re different models we get the a250 amg sport which is equivalent it seems to the " a250 engineered by amg" the other a250's overseas get the run flats, which wouldn't help ride. We fortunately don't !

Yes do wish the qv guili came with the dual clutch plus the model itself is to be replaced the following year so not good time to buy a guilietta as will take a hiding in depreciation as gets superseded ! Roc is a beaut car but only 2 doors ad 2 seats in the back. We need a practical 5 door hatch back ie 3 seats in the back :)

Fair enough. I'm of a similar view, but couldn't resist a poke given your user name. :)

the merc dealers have received their demo stock of the new A class and while still under wraps until the official release on 22 feb, I got a sneak peak at the a250 amg sport the other day.

I am seriously impressed ! even though the a250 is same price as my golf gti it looks like a definite step up from the gti to me.

a bit more pizazz in it vs the golf gti, both inside and out. love the exhaust note and things like the diamond grill out front look really good on this car. cant wait for a test drive in a couple of weeks :)

merc has released the a250 to the press for reviews and they have flooded in the last few days and all very enthusiastic about this new hot hatch contender ..

this review published in the herald sun gave it 4.5/5

Congrats...

Looks good (esp the grill).. Nice colour choice too  (this colour will make the car go faster :frantics: )...

Is it auto? I don't see a paddle shifter, but then no stick?
