And because one song (

Raising Sand
, the surprise collaboration between Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, I then needed to play that album.

I really like that album. I must get my own copy one day.

Last night it was bFM in full glorious stereo. The Tuner Box rules!

From Elvis in Memphis- 2cd legacy edition- one of the great white soul/R&B records right up there with Dusty in Memphis.

Top songs, great backup and one last great fling by the king.

Eclectic mix last night:

Madeleine Peyroux: Bare Bones

The Black Keys: The Big Up

Franz Ferdinand: Franz Ferdinand

Foo Fighters: Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace

In The Blue Vein- Lp collection of mid/late 60s NZ artists tackling the blues.

Cant quite see how this one generates so much interest on TM. The versions aren't particularly good and the sound isn't up to much on some tracks.

How Blue Can We Get- 2xlp. One record features late 60s UK artists like Christine Perfect, Fleetwood Mac, Duster Bennet, the other Chicago artists like Otis Spann, and Johnny Young. Ok but nothing startling.

The Immortal Mississippi John Hurt-US lp, much better, always like Hurts finger picking and mellow singing. A style and songs that probably prefigure the better known delta blues.

Out Of Our Heads- Rolling Stones- my original vinyl copy in glorious mono, looking abit the worse for wear after so many years and youthful abusive but still plays fine.

I actually forgot to mention I went to an actual concert yesterday. One of my fencing students is an extremely talented pianist, so we went to see her and her compadres play at King's School. Lots of Mendelssohn, Debussy, Prokofiev, Liszt, Mozart, Kenneth Young etc .

Great stuff!

Nice! I love the sound of the piano live, it is nearly as good as my stereo system.:D

It was awesome actually. She also plays in a trio, with cello and violin and they played a couple of pieces too which were cool. Live piano is so smooth and glassy, quite captivating!

Wilco - 'A Ghost Is Born' on CD.

First time I've listened to this with the new Arcam. I listened LOUD (despite dirty looks from the Wife) and it was gorgeous.

I'm hoping to get this on vinyl soon.
