kwarrior Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Send a PM to kwarrior. He'll send you a spreadsheet with his settings. It's for a different model but they may help. I haven't tried them myself yet.I keep meaning to get Mark Techer to come over and work his magic, but I never get around to it. Sorry...was overseas for a bit....and missed the forum...happy to share my settings with anybody who cares to have a look...it worked for me...and a few others here found it useful too....(very flattering!! ) ... Is kwarrior the one around here for the Epson help? I'm here mate....send me a PM...if you want a copy of my settings... ...and enjoy the PJs guys...nice to feel that excitement again....
iversons13 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Has anyone upgraded their old 720p unit for the TW3600? If so, what are the major improvements you have noticed? I'm still reasonably happy with my TW700, but I'm seriously tempted to upgrade given the current prices.
krusto Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Sorry...was overseas for a bit....and missed the forum...happy to share my settings with anybody who cares to have a look...it worked for me...and a few others here found it useful too....(very flattering!! ) ...I'm here mate....send me a PM...if you want a copy of my settings... ...and enjoy the PJs guys...nice to feel that excitement again.... Thanks mate. I would send you a PM, however it says I cannot use this feature.....might need a min of 10 posts or something? I'm loving my toy so far. My new hdmi cables arrived and it instantly made a huge difference. Just ordered my PS3 for a bluray player. New entertainment unit is here as well. This weekend I;m getting back in the roof to finish off the 15m cable and mount. Will post pics eventually. Just need my fixed screen and I'm pretty much done.
zymurgy Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 OK, got my 3600. Had settled on a Selby 110" motorised projector screen (has 250mm 'leader', remote and 12v trigger). When I arrived to pick one up, none in stock, so they offered the 120" unit for same price as 110 and the DTV forum discount as well!. According to Projector Central Calculator Pro if I have a throw distance of 4.5m and a Zoom of 1.7, it would fill a 120" screen nicley. Am I over doing it? Room is not a dedicated HT room, but I do have a depth of 6 metres and width of 4metre to play with (rest is hers !!!). Height is 2.4m. Gordon.
darockk Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 ^^ you should be right with that setup, the website says you are well within the recommended image brightness for those measurements.
kimmik Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 i read that the x.v.colour mode is a smart mode that detects the signal colour space on hdmi, and is also the most accurate of all modes according to some review. has anyone tried or use it regularly? i find it to be very similar to kwarr's settings in appearance, desaturated compared to the theatre modes. kwarr if you're reading this, have you tried measuring the xvcolor setting before? i know you cant adjust anything in it, but if its actually accurate, then people can just switch to xv if they want a more accurate desaturated look.
kwarrior Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 No mate, didnt mess around with the x.v.colour...was trying to get the calibration out of the way, before the Red took effect i read that the x.v.colour mode is a smart mode that detects the signal colour space on hdmi, and is also the most accurate of all modes according to some review.has anyone tried or use it regularly? i find it to be very similar to kwarr's settings in appearance, desaturated compared to the theatre modes. kwarr if you're reading this, have you tried measuring the xvcolor setting before? i know you cant adjust anything in it, but if its actually accurate, then people can just switch to xv if they want a more accurate desaturated look.
kimmik Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 No mate, didnt mess around with the x.v.colour...was trying to get the calibration out of the way, before the Red took effect haha i'm sure it was quite a task calibrating the thing. i was also wondering, after reading a link for pj calibration with calman, did you calibrate to 100% saturation or 75% saturation? the guy who wrote the guide seems insistent that 75% results in a far superior calibration.
kwarrior Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Kim - I didnt want to take that 100% saturation based on somebody else's view point....so I did a 100% Saturation - calibration...and it was crap!! And when I reverted to the 75% Sat Setting, the colours just stood out...so the report was quite true....from my point of view...but like I said, I didnt want that to influence what I wanted to do on my PJ... So...yes, 75% Sat was a far superior result for me...and yes, I did try the 100% Sat as well!! haha i'm sure it was quite a task calibrating the thing.i was also wondering, after reading a link for pj calibration with calman, did you calibrate to 100% saturation or 75% saturation? the guy who wrote the guide seems insistent that 75% results in a far superior calibration.
SimonNo10 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Hey kwarrior. I too would like the settings you have to test them out. Thanks for offering them to other members.
aurora Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Anyone else find the IRIS on is too annoying? Maybe its cause I've got ultra sensitive hearing but over any dialogue scene I can hear it moving... shits me

bertzz99 Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 yesterday, i just received got my 8350UB from Tycompton too...$1400 delivered depending on the exchange rate. around a week shipping. i would have prefered he shipped it double boxed but so far so goodwhat a great projector. he didnt actually send me an invoice for the projector. i will have to hit him up for one. I figured the $500 odd saved over a local model was worth it. Does the US model have a 120/220V Power supply or do you need an external US transformer? Thanks
djOS Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 (edited) KW, why not just post your settings in this topic? back when I was a member of the Z4 owners club we just shared our settings in the topic itself as it was easier. Edited December 19, 2010 by dJOS

gllp Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Doesn't seem to be much love for budget dlp projectors on this forum. Is there a technical reason why people are going with lcd or is it just because HN stores sells them and it's convenient.

Is there a technical reason why people are going with lcd or is it just because HN stores sells them and it's convenient. Thats because single chip DLP's are "budget" to begin with and the really cheap single chip models are woeful! DLP's imo* aren't worth owning unless they are 3-chip units or until the new RGB laser powered versions appear. *I suffer RBE headaches and hate the "unstable" image.
kwarrior Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 DJOS...I thought of it...and then thought why? It is on a spreadsheet, and cutting and pasting it on here, distorts the formatting...so gave up...
