Ok were getting what seems to be HD, that's good but what the hells the go with the loss of dd5.1 soundtracks that used to accompany ch7 HD broadcasts. Its very much missed.

And what is the go with the 7 mate watermark. Can it be any bigger

Is it going for the biggest damn watermark ever record or something :D

Jeesus I think we get the message 7mate !

Can we have our dd5.1 sound tracks back please with movies and other broadcasts :)

Prime viewers have never had 5.1ch broadcasts on the HD channel. I'd been hoping the change to 7mate would result in 5.1ch becoming available, but nope, still 2ch 256Kbps Dolby Digital

When I saw the watermark just after 6pm, I thought it was acceptable, not as big as our 7TWO on PRIME watermark:

7TWO

PRIME

Maybe regional areas have a different watermark to metropolitan areas?

I'm thinking of getting a DVB-T tuner for my PC so I can record more programs. As with the extra channels, I'm now finding that the 2 tuners in my PVR aren't enough, e.g. next saturday night I want to record 3 movies, all 3 movies happen to be in very much the same time slot, so 2 tuners are not enough to record all. If I do get a DVB-T tuner for my PC, I will take a screenshot of 7mate on PRIME so that you can see the watermark we have.

For quite a while we had the following for Dolby Digital:

ABC HD: mostly 2ch with rare 5.1

Prime HD: only 2ch Dolby Digital @ 256Kbps (but only when the HD channel was on which was only on during Native HD)

NBN HD: 2ch or 5.1ch (more recently till a few days ago, it was permanent 5.1ch)

SC10 HD: 2ch only (5.1ch didn't start till ONE HD started last year)

So for too long we only had rare 5.1ch on ABC HD and NBN HD.

Everything on 7mate (so far) has just been a 576i SD upconvert. The station's watermark is SD as well, suggesting that the whole stream is just an SD feed at present (e.g. as with ABC News 24). Hopefully, this will change soon.

The coverage of the AFL Grand Final on 7Mate on Prime in Gippsland was very dissapointing with some screenshots looking okay but there was a lot of blocking of the picture that looked very substandard. What did the coverage look like in other areas and also what did the so called 3D coverage look like to the hundred or so 3D viewers? <_<

I thought it hilarious that 7 (Prime for me) decided to begin its new HD channel with a standard definition show, That 70s Show. But for it to be a 4:3 programme just doubled the insult. I couldn't see any HD programming at all last night.

And Prime's HD AFL had so much blocking, it's easy to see why 7 doesn't normally bother.

At about 12.45am, half way through Robocop, the picture flicked to 7SD and there was no sound, showing Starship Troopers. I went to bed around 1.45am and the movie still wasnt back on

Will this be a common thing for 7mate?

Hi guys,

What's the story with this. I was watching 'Wanted' on channel 7 via Foxtel and decided to watch it in HD so switched to the TV tuner and found 'Anchorman' was showing on what my TV had 7HD. Then I noticed in the bottom right hand corner 7mate was showing. When I press the info button on my remote, it showed as being 7HD with 'Wanted' as being the program.

I retuned my TV, yet I was still watching Anchorman on 7mate yet the TV was tuned to 7HD, is there no 7HD any more or can someone explain.

Thanks

BB

Don't worry. Just rescan the tv channels on your tv and all will be revealed. 7HD (70) is now 7MATE (73).

Maybe it's just flagged as 5.1 but actually 2.0 ?

In Melbourne it's coming through just as 2ch pcm on channel 7, all the other 7 channels are showing other stuff, well it's finished anyway so can't Check any further.

Wanted has just begun on channel seven as I type this. And yeah 48hz 2ch PCM as well. What a bloody waste. This is a awesome movie with awesome sound track and in just plain ordinary sound track here in SD as well to rub it in.

Channel 70 is flagged as 7mate and is showing anchorman, it's flagged with epg saying it's wanted but it's not. It is in 1080i HD but with 2.0 dd. Sound track.

Channel 73 7 mate is correctly showing it's epg as anchorman in 1080i but with also 2.0 dd sound track it is incorrectly flagged as 2.1 dd.

yeah its all up the sh!te !

7HD is very confused with its epg, and yeah fake HD is about all were getting it seems and no more dd5.1 !

I'm confused. Last night 7HD (70) had the 7mate feed. Today 7HD has resumed the normal 7SD feed???

Since last night the HD channel has been dropped to SD 576i (in regional Queensland)???

What are they doing with channel 70 & why is their HD feed now SD???

7 HD is no more. LCN 70 (where 7 HD was found previously) now points at 7 SD (LCN 7). 7mate (LCN 73) remains pointed at the HD service which is no longer a simulcast with 7 SD.

Some people's TVs may not automatically update so they will see 7mate by selecting LCN 70 and depending on the level of compliance of their set on LCN 73 too. Those people can do a rescan if they desire to make their sets fall in line with the intended configuration.

Why are you asking?

It's obvious they don't know what they're doing... so there's no way any of us are going to know what they're doing.

That's the way it is when dealing with incompetents. Not only do the incompetents not know what they're doing, but observers who are staggered/amazed/appalled/disgusted/bewildered/pole-axed or just down right piddled off at what the incompetents are doing, fumble for some sort of rational explanation for what actually has no explanation.

The technicians who are transmitting Ch7's DTV signal patently have zero clue about what they are doing - because if they did they'd have made sure that 7 Mate was broadcast only as the 7 Mate stream, rather than usurping the 7HD stream with their latest 'extra channel drivel!

Every step of these "further enhancements" to FTA viewing in Australia is just another slap in the face.

7 can take 7 mate and shove their pride in it up their clackers where it belongs!!

To any Ch7 representative/employee/supporter who may view the DTV forum I have this to say... "If I wanted to watch 7 Mate, I would have deliberately selected it from the updated channel list after the rescan I deliberately performed knowing that 7 was changing it's broadcast stream - rather than finding when I selected 7HD, that the 7Mate watermark and programming was being shoved into my eyeballs and ears!"

They wouldn't like having a meal they consider 'second rate' or "not what they selected from the menu" shoved under their noses; so why in frigs name are we supposed to put up with how they treat their viewers?

Piddle poor 7!! Piddle poor...

So they hold an HD licence but don't use it anymore? Are HD content quotas gone?

How many times does this have to be explained to you Steve C?

I rescanned the TV twice !! Still got 7HD showing 7mate logo bottom right and program was Anchorman rather than 'Wanted' as advertised.
