broadbean Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 The way some staff seem to have the control over a particular section, certainly feels more like a franchise than some vanilla outfit. Didn't realise TGG were no running as a franchise. In a way, I'm going to miss it. It'd be just like Officeworks.
bernievink Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 (edited) Spent some time in TGG pakenham Vic. went to ask if I could view a 3D movie on one of their OLED TVs the LG 55" curved OLED with passive 3D. at $2795. a decent price. https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/lg-55-inches139cm-curved-oled-fhd-3d-smart-tv-55eg910t But the staff were so incompetent they were unable to connect a samsung DVH6500 bd player to the LG TV in the end they said 3d is dead anyway why bother ? I explained that my specific reason for the visit was to see the new 3D Tv. I even brought a 3D movie with me to try (A Turtles Tale) They were hopeless. Maybe the JB effect is beginning to hit TGG as well. Edited September 17, 2016 by bernievink

judge25 Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Got to say I had a pleasant experience with my JB order for the very first time ever! Ordered some blu-rays online Sunday that I couldn't get in store. Shipped early Monday morning and arrived Wednesday morning. No back orders or delays for a change no and even Aussie post did well also for a change. Hope they can keep this up it may convert a few buyers or at least bring some back.
Crazy Mike Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Does anyone know if Conjuring 2 has hit the shelves early at JB?

Aussies once again 2nd class apparently! This also seems to be the fault of US studios not giving a rats about AUS consumers and expecting local businesses to pick up the slack... JSmith

Just need to sit back and do nothing really. Regards Peter Gillespie

Regards Peter Gillespie UltraViolet was always doomed to fail in Australia because the movie studios took no responsibility for its success or failure – instead it all rested on the shoulders of retail partners. JB Hi-Fi and EzyFlix were expected to build their own streaming service and negotiate individual streaming deals with each movie studio. The demise of EzyFlix and now JB Hi-Fi NOW Video leaves Flixster as the last man standing in Australia – although Flixster doesn't have much of a presence here beyond offering its apps for iOS, Android and Windows Phone. http://www.smh.com.au/technology/gadgets-on-the-go/jb-hifi-scraps-ultraviolet-movie-streaming-service-20170320-gv2ggv.html It's not really made clear why this decision has been made... apathy, lack of use? jutta Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 I've never used an UV movie yet. Used the code a few times but never bothered watchingSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Digitalcopy dvd for iTunes is no more so being cynical lack of media means pay or go without..

Just be careful, I tried to use Flixster when I was on holiday, but I couldn't get it to work due to a flakey internet connection. Even if you download the movie to your laptop, it still tries to verify your "license" to watch the movie through the internet. These days I can't be bothered with Flixster.

If you are online and navigate to the movies section then apparently they'll be 'validated' and be available for viewing even if you then go offline. 3. And then there's apparently this: So you want to watch a movie downloaded from Flixster offline. Follow these steps. 1- Start the Flixster app. It will give you an error like (No Network Connection) click cancel. 2- If you are not on the My Movies tab at the top make sure you highlight it. If the error pops up again just keep clicking cancel. 3- Click or touch the movie that you downloaded. Suprise! the error pops up again (you guessed it, once again click cancel). Click or touch the tab "Watch Now" and enjoy your movie offline. Regards Peter Gillespie Edited March 22, 2017 by pgdownload Number three

Sometimes with a 3G-wifi adapter turned on for internet access. but often without, and it worked every time I tried. no hiccups whatsoever. Edited March 23, 2017 by bernievink
groovem Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 I used the Flixster app, all I know is that the last time I tried to use it when I was away (I was in Byron Bay), it kept saying it could not get a license to play the movie. It was fully downloaded.
groovem Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 No I've only ever redeemed Australian Ultraviolets.
bernievink Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 (edited) I sent a question to JB on their website, asking why there were no "4K UHD + BD + UV" mummy series movies available for pre-order, seeing they are due for release on 10th of May 2017. I received a reply that they exist on the back end of their website but not on the public part. I suggested that they get their act together otherwise I might be forced to pre-order them from another retailer. They said they would see what they could do. Regards Bernie Update:- when they got back to me with more details, I hit them with another list. 2 Planet of the apes movies, 2 Despicable me movies and xXx return of xander cage movie. poor guy was speechless. Edited April 20, 2017 by bernievink more info in update
