I am looking for a app that can list all my movies but I also what it to do all this -

Blu-Ray

DVD

HD DVD

UMD

Along with listing all my video games - XBOX, 360, PS123, Wii etc

Anyone know of a App?

Collectorz will do DVD, HD DVD, BR, but no sure on UMD (dont have any, never tried) as a single purchase.

The gaming catalogue program is a seperate purchase.

The app for iPhone or Android is also a seperate purchase.

www.clz.com

Sounds irritating, but well worth the money IMO. Its a shame as clz just had a 50% off sale which ended at the end of November.

It's actually on again for one week only till Dec 13, 23:59 and covers all iPhone, iPad and Android apps

Thanks

will check it out

Just remember with Collectorz you still need the main program to create the database and export to the mobile apps.

Not sure about Profiler.

From what i understand of it, it is entirely possible to use the ios app as completely stand alone without the need for the desktop DVD profiler program.

However if you want/need to do a lot of heavy editing of the info, you wont be able to do it on the app, you will need to use the desktop program.

Seems that way, I only briefly scanned the info. Looks like there is provision to use the iPhone camera to scan barcodes somehow........interesting and looks like a great little app.

I got it, not cheap, quite expensive actually for what it does, it uses a freebie barcode scanning app too, which you have to down load as well.

It's very hit and miss though. So many discs eg Clint east wood trilogy, back to future trilogy took a few goes, road to pedition it comes up with nothing. In some cases eg road to perdition even though the scanner sometimes finds it the software comes back with not in data base

A few times it throws you out and spits the dummy. All a bit to flaky and hit and miss for the money paid.

It should be a freebie in my opinion, if and when they get it working seamlessly then perhaps they should start asking for money for it. So far feel ripped off !

edit lock stock and two smoking barells another comes up with nothing !

does anyone know if it's possible to sync a ipad and a iphone so they both see the same collection? i.e. add a title on the iphone and it'll show up on the ipad?

no idea, have synched both iphone and ipad back to the macbook so will let you know soon enough. have loaded about 60 movies in the profiler, will slowly work through my collection. still dont really know what to do with movies that dont scan or come up with anything

i havent tried scanning but when you add a title make sure it's not locked to 1 country in the search fields - thats the only times I had a title come up as no result.

keywords seem a bit touchy as well i.e. searching for "yuma" gave no result but searching for "3:10" brought up 3:10 to yuma. a bit silly.

Will try that sejanus, though seems its picking up other country stuff too.

Just checked Ie iPhone iPad synching. Your collection details seem to be local to the iPhone. This is bizare and have no idea how to synch it back to the ipad. If going on the ipad it seems to only want to create a new collection.

Crazy if it can't synch across. Would be a big black mark and a bit dissapointing.

ps there appears to be a forum here for dvd profiler, will watch that see what eventuates

Might be a setting somewhere, or may have to compile the collection in the Mac PC and then sync export it to the other devices.

macca, it doesnt appear looking at the forum there, that there is a mac version of this software. which is all a bit strange as the creater would have had to use a mac to make the ipad/iphone interface  all a bit strange !

but no not found a switch anyplace. if anyone does let me know :)

Right I think is see where the terminology led me astray, I've edited my previous post to more accurately convey what I meant.

I assumed Profiler was Mac compatible and you were using the Profiler software to export/import the collection, but now I see you meant you were syncing the devices through iTunes.

I'm not sure about Profiler but it may be similar to Collectorz in that they use the main program on PC to export/import the collection.

hi macca, yes any synching between ipad/iphone and itunes on the mac is only for the app, which only resides on iphone and ipad. nothign as such on the mac. and the database as far as can see stays on device been entering it onto. and is not synched between devices via itunes or anything.

have finished scanning in my BD collection. 264 BDs and with the barcode scanner it does make for quick work.

I have worked out what the issue is with some titles.

I think the dvd profiler is basically a US centric thing. so where you will have trouble is with some aussie titles. particualrly new releases.

titles have had trouble with are,

chicago earth wind and fire

untouchables

BBC Jan austens pride and prejudice

hollywood land

clint eastwood trillogy

road to perdition

6 titles out of 264 aint bad I suppose in the scheme of things.

the bother though is that at times scanning them as aussie titles and even plugging in the title name wont find it as an aussie title. so then have to plug it in as another country release title eg UK, netherlands or germany etc which might have it released in their database instead. there are ofcourse some subtle differences between oz and other country titles so would have liked to have it store it as an oz release rather than another countries.

I would hope theyd be upto date on the data base, have purchased it in oz after all and they are selling the software for this region.

scanning I will say is quick and fast though. extremly making working through my collection fast work !

some bugs, if cant find the title on scanning, if then try to plug title name in manually the program throws you out. so have to fire it up again, and it will work second time around.

major bug bear for me though is that cant synch back my database / collection back to my macbook. or across from iphone to ipad via itunes.

I have a feeling you'll need DVD Profiler running on PC if you want to transfer the collection over to another device.

A brief net scan mentions that DVD Profiler syncs over wifi or 3G and not through Itunes but separately through the PC Profiler software. I think this is controlled through the PC software and not the iPhone/iPad app. So if you want to transfer a collection from the iPhone to the iPad you'll most likely need to buy the PC version and import from the iPhone into it and then export to the iPad. If you don't have an old PC laying around you'll probably just have to compile the iPad manually or nag the developers to make a work around.

Thanks macca, That'll be right !

Only pc we have, sits comatose in the back of a bedroom cupboard. ...best place for it :D

Ah well, have to sit in hope I guess they'll get the Mac version going. All a bit silly really be so many out there in mac land and likely many iPhone iPad owners as well.

Wouldn't have thought be that hard to not only synch back the app, but also the database. Seems like something not thought through very well in my opinion.

As a standalone on the iPhone the thing does work, the developers just not thinking ahead it seems that people might just want to backup or synch their collection database to a Mac or ipad, so of some use there as well...

Found a thread on whirlpool on this one, sloshes there by same guy posting it here :ninja:

Anyways one of the guys posted there re the item in question, Seems like previous mo re lacking of Aussie support, so something not new with this version

I've tried to use one of these type of apps before.

It claimed that it could use the camera on the iphone to scan in the barcode of the DVD's and add them to the library.

The problem was that it couldnt look up UPC codes against an australia database for our region 4 discs.

I'll be interested to see if the DVD profiler product will support these Australian codes.

I took a look at the link above and the screenshots for the ipad look great. Could be a good 'coffee table' when there is nothing on TV and I'm looking for a DVD to watch.

I'd like to see the following though:-

- has to be easy to populate the library

- support blu-ray discs too

- would be nice if the database could be cloud based so that the app on my iphone and ipad share the same database.
