When it displays "no disc" wait for approx 4-5 seconds, and press GREEN-2-2 on the remote. 3. Press "setup" on remote. 4. Scroll down to "Device setup" 5. Place the bar on "Firmware Upgrade" 6. Press RED-8-5-2-0 on the remote. 7. Exit menu again by pressing setup button, NOT the ok button. 8. Obviously you'll also need the FW you want to reinstal...link in post above. This link also includes the Oppo instructions for updating from USB which you will need. NB: FW upgrades are not to be taken lightly, they sometimes brick your player. Do this at your own risk...or don't do it. It worked for me, but I'm not aware of anyone else who has done this...succesfully or otherwise. Cheers blairy hey guys, im new here and based in the UK, but have read this thread with interested, i had stopped reading forums back here last december, and had updated my OPPO 93EU without thinking and now cannot play disc images my oppo dealer actually gave me the link to this thread, and the instructions are great but unfortunately I need the EU version of the earlier firmwares to roll back, i know its along shot but does anyone on here know where i might be able to find one much help appreciated
Quark Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 (edited) If you've been downloading from the main Oppo.com site the earlier firmware is still there for download you just need to know the version details and edit the existing link. For example the U.S. firmware link here: oppodigital.com/blu-ray-bdp-93/bdp9x-firmware-66-0413.aspx - if know the earlier version of the two bolded segments you can cut and paste them into your browser and it will take you to the link. Otherwise, I'd send Oppo support an e-mail - expect they will be able to give you a link. Edited April 26, 2012 by Quark
pasadena Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 (edited) Oppo BDP-9xEU-61-1219 December firmware for EU models http://oppodownloads...61-1219-USB.zip Previous firmwares are still accessible on the US website but not on the UK website. Here's the direct link to the December firmware for US models http://download.oppo...P9x-61-1219.zip Edited April 26, 2012 by pasadena

I suspect the Oz version has Oz firmware and not sure what site one would use to get the firmware.

pasadena Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Just as a side note. Those who are thinking of purchasing an AU 93 or 95 and have the intention of using ISO support available in the December firmware, will never happen because the AU version has only just been released and a december fimware would never have been released for it. Otherwise, get yourself and US/EU machine.

Yupp, there's three FW's, one for US, Europe and now Australia. If you bought locally you'l need to use the AUS FW not the US or European FW. Suggest you try the Australian Oppo website (International Dynamics) or the retailer you purchased from. Also, if you post the FW details of what's currently installed people here might be able to tell if you that's current or not. blairy

Second from looking further into the firmware for my Aussie purchased unit it does indeed include ISO support in the current firmware version. Current firmware BDP9xAU-61-1219 released 21st December 2011. Latest firmware BDPxAU-65-0302 released 19 March 2012; this removes ISO support. http://www.opposhop....po-bd-93au.html On 29/04/2012 at 7:20 AM, blairy said: Yupp, there's three FW's, one for US, Europe and now Australia. Maybe not ideal to update due to loss of ISO support unless I have problems. Edit and I really am a total nube re ISO........ Edited April 29, 2012 by cooksta

chrisso1671 Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Hey guys thinking of buying this unit, merlin audio have them chipped for $649 delivered. Guys is this good or should I shop around or even wait for new model? Have a samsung bdc 6900 at the moment, but need 2 hdmi (rxv 1900 yamaha amp) do you guys feel the oppo is worth the coin. any response would be appreciated, oh yes i have read the reviews on this player just want some real world info. cheers Chris.
Quark Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 They're a great unit and for $649 the mod kit is basically being thrown in gratis. Ken at Merlin is a good guy to deal with. At that price I don't think it's worth importing the US version from Amazon and installing the mod kit yourself. For picture quality, you're unlikely to notice much difference on blu-rays unless you're using a 55"+ display. The upscaling of DVDs is much better than most players and you'll notice this on almost any display. If you've already calibrated your display, it's likely to need tweaking, as the oppo is one of the few players that processes colour information correctly. For CD, DVDA and SACD sound through the analog outputs (using the Oppo's DAC) will be a lot better than your Yamaha's internal processing. The Oppo also lets you play DVDA without firing up a display (hit Stop twice, then Play). Oppo's firmware support for new disc issues etc is excellent - no-one does it better. At that price I presume it's the basic mod kit which involves pushing a number of buttons and restarting the player. If you want to program a universal remote the pro kit makes it easier to set up (with a Harmony you can have two activities, one for playing local discs and one for playing US discs). Your call whether you want to spend more $ on the pro mod kit - may be worth it for the spouse acceptance factor.
chrisso1671 Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Thanks for the quick reply Quark, yeah I have a 63'' plasma also it is the basic mod kit I only have local titles at the moment but the mod comes with the player, yeah ken sounds great to deal with. So will all the information about what buttons to press for different regions come with the player? thanks for any information.
Quark Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 There'll be a sheet with the mod kit instructions - you can read here in the meantime.
chrisso1671 Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Thanks again Quark, I really only need a 3d player with 2 HDMI outs for my set up but I think this unit is best in class for the money, so I think i will order it today, was going to go down the samsung bde 8900 route as it has 2 hdmi but really want the best picture possible and have read a few complaints on the samsung already and i dont need the 1tb storage. I think the oppo will be the right choice. cheers Chris.

pasadena Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Oppo has a cult following and since the release of 93 and 95, even more so. With such huge interest, I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before someone comes up with a hacked firmware version.. Anyone has a link to the AU december firmware.

Maybe the first lost AU oppo's were shipped with the dec fimrware that will not be publically available or released by oppo and only recent firmware will be available for download. Pitty you can't backup your firmware to an external storage device from the oppo.
