When I go into setup and press 0770 it tells me I'm set to Region C. Buttons 1, 2 and 3 don't turn the player on. I suppose I try a firmware reinstall first. As I understand it if that doesn't do the trick replace the USB inside. I got my mod direct from Bluraychip. blairy Is that a new feature as my pro mod doesn't do that. While my 95 is off I press 1,2 or 3 for what region I want then I turn the player on.
blairy Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 Thank Simon, mine has always worked by pressing (say) button 1 and turns on the player set to Region A (2 for b and 3 for c). I might try it your way and see how that goes. From the Bluray chip website: By default, your bluray player is now region free for DVD. To set the bluray region to A, B or C, please press “1”, “2” or “3” on the remote when the player is in standby. The player will automatically power on, when “1”, “2” or “3” is pressed. The selected region will be stored and remembered, even when removing the mains supply from the player. Cheers Blairy
blairy Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 Well found a much simpler solution. When reviewing the (rather basic) instructions: To disable the automatic power on, press the blue button on the remote once. To enable automatic power on again, press the yellow button once. Turned on player...pressed yellow button..turned off player pressed 1 and power as SimonNo10 says he does and I'm in region A and all is working as it should. Thanks blairy
SimonNo10 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Cool mate. I had no idea that option was available for turning the player on using the numbers. Glad you got it working.
blairy Posted August 21, 2014 Author Posted August 21, 2014 Anybody know how to get the mods to move this thread in to the Bluray and DVD player section (as opposed to the movies portion of the forum)?
Quark Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 FYI, there's a new firmware release for the 93/95 players. Not sure if this will cause any issues for the Pro region change mod kits - anyone tried yet? Changes: Resolved a disc loading issue with several Blu-ray movies released by Touchstone Home Entertainment. Customers reported that after loading the disc, the player would stopped even froze at the time point "2:00:00". Sample titles include "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" and "The Tempest". Resolved a subtitle display issue with several Blu-ray movies released by Shout! Factory studio. Customers reported that the subtitle would quickly dissappear, even completely undisplay at multiple time points. Sample titles include "The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec Director's Cut" and "Prince of Darkness". Resolved an audio dropout issue with the SACD playback. Customers reported that if an SACD was loaded after the player was turned on, a brief audio dropout could be heard after ~2 seconds into the first track. This only happened on the first track on the first SACD disc. General disc compatibility improvement based on recent and upcoming Blu-ray releases as well as user-submitted disc samples.

Maybe the OP can insert/provide this as a link for people on the first page Send me a PM and I'll provide you with a link. Thanks I know this is a very old post, but I've only just discovered that you can downgrade an Oppo 93AU and I wanted to do that with mine. I can't find the file anyway. Is there any chance I can please get it from you? I'm only a new member so I can't PM yet. My email is calvinrtaylor@gmail.com Thanks, Calvin
cashflag Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Hi there. I know this is 'legacy' technology but I hope someone can help. I recently picked up a 93 with the promod and I have been attempting to get it to playback ISO files. My 93 does not see or display them when using the media browser. The firmware version is: BDP9x-42-0323 ...which would suggest that this pre-dates the non-ISO supportive firmware. So, uh, I guess my question is: Where do I start? Thanks in advance!

Quote purchased mine through aliexpress .com search for jailbreak firmware oppo Where you could source the iso firmware from though you would be lucky .. Edited October 27, 2015 by cwt
cashflag Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Thanks, cwt. After searching high and low, I ended up finding a link to the relevant US firmware about 10 or so pages back, here: http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php/topic/92162-oppo-bdp-93/page-43#entry1799836 After briefly thinking that I may have bricked my player, it came good after a few power cycles. I then upgraded the promod's firmware for good measure and now everything is sweet. Now, it's just a shame that most of my stuff is stashed on 3TB drives...
Candyman Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Found this old thread, apologies if I'm not meant to post here. I recently got an Oppo 95-AU with a mod kit installed. Originally purchased 3 years ago from Merlin Audio in Australia, I'm the 2nd owner. When in standby, if I press 1, 2 or 3 on the remote the player will power up, but always remains locked to Blu-Ray region B and DVD region 4, irrespective of what number is pressed. Got a couple of questions if anyone can help please: Would this be a Pro mod or Standard mod that I'm working with? Having read this thread closely, I couldn't quite pinpoint the same issue that I'm having. Any ideas as to what could be wrong? Any feedback much appreciated.
Quark Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 It sounds like you have the pro kit installed as the procedure you're using is for the pro kit and the player is starting. The region free kits sometimes just need the player to be reset, have the memory cleared and be turned off at the wall for 10 minutes to clear any errors. FYI if you want to try it, for the standard kit the procedure is: By default, your bluray player is region free for DVD. To set the bluray region to A, B or C,please do the following:1. Power on the player without any disc inserted. The screen will after awhile show “No Disc”.2. About 4 seconds after the “No Disc” displayed, press DIMMER, DIMMER, DIMMER,MUTE and then the region code. 1 for A, 2 for B, and 3 for C.3. Power off your player. When started up again, the regioncode has changed. The region code selection must be done within 20 seconds.Your players firmware must be the BDP9x-42-0323 release, or newer. To select a specific DVD region, press DIMMER , DIMMER , DIMMER , PURE AUDIO, xWhere x is the DVD region 0 to 6. Default is 0 (all regions / regionfree) If you've tried the reset and power off without fixing it then it starts getting a bit complicated. Have you updated the firmware since you got the player? What version of the Oppo firmware do you have installed. The pro kits went through several iterations and some require their own firmware update to work with later Oppo firmware updates. The best way to identify the pro kit version is to confirm the local purchase date. If you go here and click on the Kit Support tab it will confirm the version. Report back and we can go from there.

I might also jump on this thread as I have a similar problem to Candyman. I have an Oppo BDP 95 that I purchased second hand a couple of years ago. From what I can gather, it has the pro mod installed, and after trying a bunch of combinations I've been unable to get the region free function to work. The only paperwork that identifies the mod says it has "Professional Kit Firmware Installed: 1h". I have the latest update to the Oppo firmware installed - BDP9x-82-1009. I have spoken to the supplier of the mod to the retail store where the unit was originally purchased. He has offered to look at the unit and believes a hardware fix is required. Before I ship the unit interstate I was interested to see if there were any other options. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

If its a hardware issue, it's probably the USB stick on the chip - some have done the replacement themselves - see post #1307 in this thread.
warroon Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) That may not fix it ... I had one that simply died It needed a replacement mod board. (blasted auto correct) Edited February 22, 2016 by warroon

Candyman Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Thank you all for responses. My Oppo 95 has the latest firmware installed BDP9xAU-82-1009, that's how it came. Given that (apparently) the original owner got the player 3 years ago (still trying to confirm the exact date), for now let's say sometime in 2013, and the player's latest official firmware was released in 2014, that would suggest the original owner did upgrade the player's firmware sometime after late October 2014 (upon official Oppo release). I have tried powering off the player for 10 minutes, but it doesn't help, I still get Blu-Ray region B and DVD region 4. "Standard Kit" button presses don't do a thing, which would indicate I have the PRO mod. The original owner said the cost of the mod kit was $300, which I'm guessing was the price of the PRO version. It would make sense that Merlin might have installed "The 1H_Professional kit" as the player was purchased from him back in 2013. I tried different remote button combinations found in this thread to check the Pro Kit's firmware, but none of them worked for me. Any ideas there?

If the player was sold in 2013 the mod should have the latest firmware installed. Sounds like the mod has most likely developed a hardware fault. Your choices are probably: Try replacing the USB stick using the instructions in post #1307 of this thread. Buy a new mod kit and install it yourself (the 95 kit is fiddly as you need to remove a DAC board) Contact Ken @ Opposhop for a quote on a fix. If in Melbourne it may be more convenient to contact David at Gattiweb for a quote. Edited February 23, 2016 by Quark
warroon Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Gattiweb will likely be cheaper ... Merlin has always been a premium pricer in my experience with him. If it is a failed mod board, the manufacturer would likely replace it for him for nicks though.
JSmith Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 If it is just the mod chip, you can still get the standard kit from here; http://bluraychip.dk/product.php?id_product=17 JSmith
Candyman Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I eventually got it going, but it did take a while. It was a faulty USB stick. Now I am after a rack mount kit for Oppo 95. If anyone is selling, please let me know.
