Sievers Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 So I read Naughty Dog are going to patch the aiming, have they given an ETA because I feel it is so broken right now that I might just hold off playing so I can enjoy it properly without getting all worked up over how bad it is right now.

I'm surprised people cannot play a game that doesnt have "snap to" aiming mechanics. There is nothing wrong with the aiming in the game - I've finished it on HARD, my issues were not with the aiming but more to do with the AI and the way the gun fights were set up. This reminds me of when Killzone 2 was released, and because the shooting mechanics were different to other "popular on another console" shooting game, they got savaged for it.
Felix.. Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 (edited) Oh...?Coz there was a really easy way to beat him which involved hanging off the ledge and shooting the spores when he gets close enough Nah could never get that ledge exploit to work for me after numerous attempts. But I did take advantage of a couple exploits in U1 otherwise I may have rage quit on the crushing trophy forever. A few spots early in the game (in chapters 4 and 5) were virtually unbeatable on crushing, at least for my skill level, so luckily there were exploits in those sections. Anyway I'm determined to platinum U3 whatever it takes. Gotta get that trifecta! Just finished collecting 101 of 100 treasures on a 2nd playthrough so getting rid of the easy stuff first. But enough Drake for now...my copy of Arkham City finally rocked up from the UK today and then it's Skyrim at the end of the week FFS. Edited November 8, 2011 by Felix.

I think I know the spots you are talking about in UC1 - the jungle area where there is a crashed light plane in the trees? I only passed it because the game glitched - I died (as normal) but a grenade killed the last guy, meaning on restart it popped me into the next bit. I tell you, I was releaved!! I want to get the UC3 platinum too, but as I said those "ammo while rolling" trophy seems a little stupid to me. I got a haul of 7 games coming from Play-Asia, so I should be tied up for the rest of the year!
Felix.. Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 (edited) You've got it precisely DD. On all other difficulty modes that section was a relative cinch but on crushing the enemies rushed you and a couple of shots later you were nothing more than a rotting carcus. Fortunately there was an indestructable crate at one end of the map that you could hide behind where enemies couldn't charge or flank you otherwise I reckon I would still be trying to complete that section on crushing. Another problem area that a lot struggled on crushing in U1 was affectionately know as the 'Hell Hole' in the Fortress (Chapter 5) where you had to drop down into waist high water and only then would multiple enemies spawn and rush you, especially those annoying shotgun dudes. Thankfully someone found an exploit where if you backtracked far enough on the map you could force the enemies to spawn without having to drop down so you could pick them off from above which made life so much easier. Yes some of those trophies in U3 do look daunting but hopefully where there's a will there's a way....or an exploit! Edited November 9, 2011 by Felix.

Felix.. Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 (edited) Sure, why not! Although you've already completed it on hard so have a decent head start on me. I may have to put Batman on ice for a while he he. My PSN ID is Felix72 if you want to add me for trophy verification purposes or maybe some co-op one of these days after hopefully we are both sporting platinum trophies. Same goes for any other PS3 gamers reading this thread. Edited November 9, 2011 by Felix.
Sievers Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 (edited) Definitely play through Batman, Felix. I was overwhelmed with it at first but completing a second playthrough made me realise what a masterpiece it really is. Sublime game which thankfully the dev's didn't add things like co-op or multiplayer (not taking a jab at UC) just that the Arkham series really doesn't call for it at all. Rocksteady are on par with Naughty Dog in storytelling but in different ways of execution. Any gamer who skips it is really missing something special, especially in an age of rehashes and constant generic modern shootersl. I'm not going to bother waiting for a patch but I have a free weekend for once and i'll give UC3 some uninterrupted time, a lot more fun that way. I'm only at the Chateau but I might just be in a minority of preferring the puzzle solving (albeit too easy) and platforming over any shooting sequence so far. Drake and Sully banter is still my favorite part of this series. Edited November 9, 2011 by Sievers

Great puzzles in this game too, especially some crackers in the Chataeu Felix - I'll add you very soon - look out for me, I am DansDans (like on here)
Felix.. Posted November 10, 2011 Author Posted November 10, 2011 (edited) Definitely play through Batman, Felix. I certainly plan to as I was huge fan of AA - it's just a case of when. In fact I played nearly an hour last night. But I just got a text from EB to say that my Ltd edition copy of Skyrim is ready to collect! So I think everything else is going to have to wait a bit including the U3 platinum tropy. Edited November 10, 2011 by Felix.
windeath Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 UC3 is taking a rest for quite some time now....SKYRIM IS HERE.
Sievers Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I'm still not up with the whole Skyrim hype. Its all i've heard this year and how amazing it will be, I love a good RPG and I'm certainly a geek but i've never fully got into dragons and knights as the pinnacle of geekdom. I'll take sci-fi or a post-apocalyptic world any day of the week. I WANT to be jazzed for it but i'm still indifferent to it.

Im curious about this game, but like yourself I dont get the hype either. Will have to try it when its GOTY edition (like Batman AC) - it will plug the gap next year when there is nothing to play during April-September (coincidentally, footy season!)
windeath Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Each to their own. I'm a fan of the series and have been following it years. It's great so far if you like these sorts of games. I hate sports and fighting games so i don't get all the hype when people carry on about some pi$$ boring football game or a game based on an equally boring and completely redundant American basket ball thing. Mortal Kombat (god with a K...geez that's "arty") but I understand people's enthusiasm and excitement. Every year we have a "Blockbuster" for one of both of the main HD consoles (sorry Wii you don't count as you're a toy) currently my blockbuster of choice is Skyrim. Not ranting just voicing my views on things.

Sounds exactly like a rant to me - people like me who arent interested so much in Skyrim dont go around calling it a "wanky fantasy game with dragons and fire and magic and stuff," so there was no need to get all insultive about sports games (I dont like them either, but just chill out dude!!!) I love Mortal Kombat - I was pumped for the reboot this year (and the crappy arcade collection) but I understand people didnt care too much about it (didnt meet too many people like that though, most people seemed genuinely more excited about than I've heard about Skyrim) Just saying is all....
windeath Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Like I said DansDans each to their own. Tis why gaming is such a great hobby/life choice/waste of time etc. There's so much to choose from.
