brake Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Does anyone know if UK and AUS release blu-rays have the exact same discs? I ask because I've compared a few AUS release to USA release discs and so far, all the AUS discs have the same specs as the UK version where the USA version differed. I noticed that a lot of AUS discs share the same ratings logos with their UK counterpart and vice versa, Some AUS discs even have other European ratings logos on them. On the other hand, Some AUS discs do only have the AUS rating logos on them, but that could just be a simple print on the disc rather than a completely different discs.
fawlty99 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 The ones I've looked at have been the same apart from language selections.
Dreamcazman Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 (edited) US discs will always be different, they are from a different region. With UK discs, it depends on the movie and the studio that released it. The only way to tell if they are identical is to check the printed disc number, if they are identical, they are one of the same disc. This happens with video games also. You get the odd UK disc that is identical to it's AUS counterpart but not all are like that, same goes for Blu-rays. An example is Twilight - the AUS and UK discs are different. The AUS version has problems whereas the UK version is perfect. Edited December 18, 2010 by Dreamcazman
aeon1503559541 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 US discs will always be different, they are from a different region. Not always - some of the Region Free Blu-ray releases are the same in Australia as the US counterpart... all Warner Bros Blu-rays are region free, and they are often identical discs to the ones released in the US market. Was trying to think of an example, and sure enough, my Australian 300 disc is the same as the US one, heck even on the printed label around the edge it has "US R Canada 18A".
Johnny_Boy Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 The AUS version has problems whereas the UK version is perfect. I wouldn't go so far as to say twiligt is perfect
Wags69 Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 All the discs I've had thus far from whatever region have been round, so yes they're all the same......... Collingwood supporters! But mildly amusing just the same!
brake Posted December 19, 2010 Author Posted December 19, 2010 Thanks guys, I guess that answered my question. All the discs I've had thus far from whatever region have been round, so yes they're all the same......... So you're telling me this square disc I've got here isn't normal?
bbar Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Thanks guys, I guess that answered my question. So you're telling me this square disc I've got here isn't normal? Depends on your definition of normal

Oh yeah, I forgot about the RF discs. I wouldn't go so far as to say twiligt is perfect lol, as you probably guessed I meant perfect as in video/audio wise, not movie wise. It's my wife that's a fan, not me.
