Guys, I am in the market for a player like this and have read through the thread but can't see a list of AV file formats it will play from my home network - not in the manual available online, either. Well, i see it can handle FLAC so that's audio covered for me, but what about video formats? Does anyone have a full list, or at least can it handle the SD or HD .ts files I record from my PVR?

EDIT: Found it myself, thanks:

Finally decided to do some cable management today along with my TV calibration.

Stuck a Audioquest HDMI cable direct to the TV, and ran a Aiborg HDMI cable to the amp for audio & video.

I don't think it's merely a cable change, but more to do with the calibration, but the colors are sweeter now, and it's an upgrade in viewing experience.

I've got a pro mod kit for the 95 that I now no longer need, I have put it in and tried it but I'm doing the terra firma upgrade and it doesn't fit, so if anyone is looking for one and wants to save some money please pm me

ps. I only got it a week ago so virtually new and easy to fit.

Love to hear your thoughts on the Terra Firma upgrade once complete. :)

I'm having it done on my cambridge 751, as well as new transformers for the stereo out and replacing all the chips on the multi ch out with the ones from the oppo 95.

Joe has a modded 95 to compare and from what he has heard with just the terra firma and transformers has been singing the 751's praises with hi-res music through an upgraded yaquin tube amp.

I listened to his 95 when I dropped mine off and it sounded amazing so if the 751 sounds even close to that I'll be very happy.

I had it done on my oppo 83 and thought it was worth the cash

HDMI connection voodoo

Previously...

I had mentioned the strangeness of having to turn on components in your HDMI equipped setup in a particular fashion, so each component can 'talk' to each other properly, otherwise you have to reset the connection for them to recognise one another.

I found the best sequence was TV, Amp, then lastly the Blu Ray player

More HDMI vodoo this past week...

I have been having stuttering on my Oppo on the analogue connection recently, and initially I thought it might be a dirty laser head. However I ruled that out as I could play with no issues via HDMI. It was only through the analogue outputs and I check my amp, the cables, cleaned the laser head etc.

Then I remembered shifting it during my TV calibration recently and reconnecting the HDMI outputs. I now use HDMI 1 for audio, and HDMI 2 for video, which runs direct from the Oppo to the TV. Somehow this was switched, and the Oppo was "confused" and kept stuttering when I switched on the TV. With the TV turned off, there was no issue. I also lost 5.1 DTS-MA.

After checking my connections, and restoring the right HDMI output, things were back to normal.

So when you add something new, check your connections.

I think there was a recent app to use your android phone as a remote for the 93/95 but it now can also manage browsing your hdd's/ NAS . This is something long wished for as it drops the need of a tv/panel to navigate your files - note the firmware version for those with iso capability to consider ..

Yep and they are working on an iphone/ipad version also. Can't wait for this as control the Integra via ipad so would be great to control Oppo via the ipad also.

Apologise for the double post as this was posted in the 93 discussion thread so I thought I'd make it available here as well. Thanks

If anyone is interested, I was able to source the AU version of the last revision of the ISO playable firmware - BDP9xAU-61-1219 for the 93/95.

Maybe the OP can insert/provide this as a link for people on the first page or a firmware page for the oppo's.

Send me a PM and I'll provide you with a link.

Thanks

Just a followed to those with Onkyos and Integras - the latest version of Oremote now includes full control of Oppos (93,95,103 & 105) via RIHD ... I supect Bbar nearly kept his integra after discovering how good this was the night before he sold it to me!

Oremote is seriously worth paying the $5 for if you have an iPad/iPod and a comparable Reciever/prepro.

Hi Chop

So if i have Onkyo processor and 95, then i can use ipad/ipod to control it?

Thanks

Yep and it is absolutely the best!!

Am using Deremote now with the Marantz and it is great though couple things need correcting as they do it differently now with new models! ; but has no integration with Oppo unfortunately.

I am trying to downgrade my EU OPPO BDP-95 to a firmware with .ISO-playback. I have the Bluraychip.dk PRO MOD chip installed and as per instruction I am trying to downgrade the firmware but without success.

Has anyone done this on a BDP-95EU model?

This is the instruction for the PRO MOD:

1 Disconnect ethernet, and any USB devices, and power up the player with no disc in the tray.

2 Press "setup" on remote

3 Scroll down to "Device setup"

4 Place the bar on "Firmware Upgrade"

5 Press RED-8-5-2-0 on the remote.

6 In this menu, press 1-1-4 on the remote.

7 Exit menu again by pressing setup button, NOT the ok button.

8 Now you can downgrade the firmware with the use of a usb stick, just follow the usual instructions from Oppo.

I still get the "firmware is incorrect or corrupt" message when inserting the USB stick with bdp-9xeu-61-1219 firmware...

There's been mixed reports on whether you can still downgrade from some of the more recent firmware versions with the pro mod chip. Haven't tried it myself.

The size, brand and formatting of the USB stick can all be factors in whether it will work. Can you advise details.

Thanks. I'll try another stick and if that doesn't work I guess I'm pretty much stuck. I'm using a odd one (Sony Ericsson stick supplied with my phone, with 4gb microsd-card). Worked before, flashing firmwares on the player though.

The thing is, the player does not respond to the RED-8520 button sequence. Isn't there another menu that is supposed to pop up from this?
