Ive got a pc Cheese so no experience with macs but i-tunes lost its drm a while ago so the few ''protected'' files I had converted them to apple lossless and sent to the nas ;)

Found this in a mac forum so you should be ok

And after you convert everything to flac [lossless]; this sounds promising :)

http://www.voxapp.uni.cc/

The 95 doesnt support apple lossless btw so you may have to convert to lossy to even see the files. More reading here if you need it ^_^ ; http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/it.../topic4923.html

Thanks for the info CWT, I didn't think that Apple Lossless was supported so was keen to hear how you were doing it. I'm thinking I might go for my original plan of copying my music library (Apple lossless) to an eSata drive and converting it to Flac. then I can hook directly to the 95 and not have any network dropouts etc

I tell you waht been listening to Dire Starits BIA tonight and the amount of decay and reverb you get out of the guitar riffs with the Oppo is pretty big :o

Cheesey I don't know if this helps but I am using the PS3 server software from my 93 to my PC and it works great (after cutting and pasting the Oppo txt config file). I see they also have a free Mac version here: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30399/ps3-media-server.

I can play any lossless Flac and DSD etc file that I share at any quality so far...

EDIT: I have put the config file Here: http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtop...=0#entry1706556

As with anything - always at your own risk...

Thanks for your comments MJR69, I'm going to go the direct approach with the eSata drive as above and see how that goes

Cheers Cheese

Watched my first BD on the 95 and I noticed that after pressing stop twice to get the the main screen with the Oppo logo it still says loading. On the BD-83 it always displayed stop. I pressed stop several times on the 95 but still displays loading. Is this normal?

Posted (edited)

If you stop on the 93 then it allows you to resume. If you hit the stop button twice in succession it resumes and says it is loading. I imagine it is the same on the 95...

Just a quick update. Watched three BD's yesterday, Purple Rain, Saving Private Ryan and Legend of The Guardians, and all I can say about the BD95 is WOW. I know there are undoubtedly better players out there for big money, but in terms of improvement over my Pana DMP-BD-80 it is quite amazing. The sound stage has gone to another level with the Oppo and now I feel as though my Arcam amp and ProAc speakers are finally receiving some decent content.

I had never heard of Oppo before coming to these forums so for me it was a bit of a leap of faith based other users opinions but for once I can honestly say I am very glad I took a punt and would recommend the Oppo 95 to anyone.

Are you feeding your avr via HDMI or ANALOGUE out from the OPPO?

Are you feeding your avr via HDMI or ANALOGUE out from the OPPO?

Am doing both with the 95 now. Analogue RCA out to my AVR CD input and one primary HDMI to my TV and the secondary HDMI to my AVR.

Definite improvement over playing cd via HDMI thru my Panasonic blu ray player.

I'm running the 7.1 analogue out from the Oppo to my AV9 (which doesn't do HDMI audio) and it sounds brilliant.

Hey Chantrys,

I'd be keen to hear what sort of speaker adjustments you've been doing with the Oppo, assuming that you're receiver doesn't handle the setup for the analogues? I'm running the same at the moment via my Onkyo and I'm pretty sure that none of the Audyssey EQ settings in the receiver, (HDMI connection), are applied to the multi-channel analogues. I need to maybe read up on some of the FAQs for the speaker adjustment, at the moment I've applied the distances from the receiver EQ but maybe also need to get an SPL meter as well for the trim levels. Cheers Cheese

Listened to some SACD's yesterday and loved the sound. Watched Taken and the gunshots were just incredible and thought someone might call the cops. Had the unit on for about 3hrs and noticed the fan engaged when I went to eject the disc. It's not loud at all.

Are others removing the white rubber protectors off all the inputs on the back even if your not using them? I left mine on as I'm only using HDMI 1 but thought last night that removing them might improve airflow after noticing the fan.

The Arcam AV9 seems to be a bit of a strange beast. For analogue inputs it doesn't apply any of the speaker distances that are setup in the AV9, however it does still retain the trim levels for the speakers. So trim changes that I've made to individual speakers using an SPL meter are retained for the analogue inputs meaning that so far all I've had to do in the Oppo is set the speaker distances.

I think there's a problem with my unit as the display on the left doesn't show anything even after changing the display to standard. I popped in a disc and nothing comes up only the controls light up on the right nothing on the left. I have tried the dimmer button and pure direct (just to rule it out) while playing a BD and still nothing. Maybe when Merlin audio installed the mod they forgot to plug back in the display input or something. I normally run the machine with the front display off and have done since plugging it in but after setting up my Anthem for CD/SACD playback I tried to get the disc info to display and that's when I realized that something is wrong.

Will send Ken at Merlin audio an email.

Have left mine on and not heard the fan yet. But must admit have not really been checking for it. cheers

I didn't notice it until I ejected the disc otherwise I wouldn't have known. I just hope this display issue that I have with the unit is fixable without too much fuss and I can do it at home, if it's just interconnect inside.

*Update* Spoke to Ken this morning and suggested redoing the firmware and erasing the storage and if that fails then back it goes. Will try the suggestions tonight and see how it goes.

Tried the beta firmware and reset to factory defaults and I still don't get a display on the left showing disc info etc. I guess only thing now is to send it back to Ken for a checkup which a real pain in the arse. It just had to be mine that is stuffed of all the GB units sold. He hasn't had any other customers with this issue.

You are cursed mate. I hope you get it sorted soon.

Yep I'm cursed when it comes to upgrading. I tried just plugging into another wall input with nothing else connected and pressed the dimmer button but only the controls on the right display.

So it's boxed up ready to be sent back to ACT. Not happy.

At least it did not happen say in 14 months time. After warranty. Once you get this sorted I am sure you will be trouble free for a long time.

Yeah don't know why I thought Sydney. Yep feels like the Anthem all over again. And 2 weeks ago my Fritzbox modem 7390 died after a firmware update so arranged a new one and guess what....the courier company mixed up con notes so my modem went to Broken Hill instead of my work address. Still haven't received it Comes in three's.

True and I hope so mate. I'm over issues with new equipment

Ken called me this morning and checked the player and it was a cable (mod kit) that had popped out that was causing the display not to work. So it's been put in securely and tested and it's working fine.

I should get the player back hopefully tomorrow as its been sent Aust Post using their Platium service. Thanks to Ken for fixing the issue.

Good to hear something simple. Good on ken to try get it back to you soon as possible so enjoying it again :)

found something a little oddish on the 95,

you switch it on, open the disc draw, put a disc in but till the 'open tray' icon pops up on screen you cant close the disc tray, can jab the button as many times as like.

overall the 95 is a bit mroe sluggish doing something or the other at start up and shut down I do think vs the 5000es and the denon 4010 I had before that were a little more quick and snappy on start up and shut down. nothing major just a something a little niggly.

As per Ken's word I received my player at work today in time for the weekend. Haven't used the system in a week so looking forward to trying some more media this weekend. Thanks Ken.
