Al, I took a bag of gear with me, including the macro etc, but just left the 70-200mm f/2.8 on all day. Worked quite well I thought.

As inferred in a post in the Chat thread, I'm on the lookout for a good external monitor. Thanks Gutty, Port Stephens is one of my fav spots to shoot sescapes. Beautiful shots mav, what camera/lens r you using? Cheers Magnum72, I am currently without a camera or lenses due to buying a new home in Canberra. Hopefully I willl be able to pick up a new body and lenses next year. These shots were taken with a Canon 1D mk 4 using a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 lens. I have a large stock of unprocessed images to tide me over till I get some new gear.

Maverick Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 You've sold your Mark IV? Sometimes life gets in the way of pleasure and unfortunately we needed the money for buying our home in Canberra. Probably look at getting a 5D M3 nest year.

myrantz Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Got a offer on a 100/2.8 macro (non L) that I can't refuse... Such a luxury to be able to focus this close to a subject, closer than the rated 31cm minimum focusing distance... Too bad fishes aren't trained to sit still ... Also shot my computer monitor with this lens, and indeed it is resolving enough to pick the RGB sub-pixels!
Spearmint Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 I wandered around the Festival of Italian Motorcycles on Sunday While processing some of the images, I decided to have a play with cropping. I could've cropped closer, but these felt not much subject left to view Image #1 Original Image First Crop Second Crop Image #2 Original First Crop (and yes I rotated the image a little) Second Crop These were hand held using a zoom lens, next I'll try using a tripod and prime lens to see how much of a difference it makes. This was also shot on Sunday using the small zoom while walking to the festival, and cropped quite a bit. Thanks for looking...
