I hear that the year of the dragon is extremely lucky for those born that year!
myrantz Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Sweet. Be even sweeter still when you can make them for your own kids. I hear that the year of the dragon is extremely lucky for those born that year! Tried that yesterday (dragon baby), and _immediately_ got the death stare .. Can keep trying, but I don't think I will ever have any kids of my own... Maybe she thinks I'm not ready for it, maybe she isn't, lots of maybes.. Just don't know what's happening. .. But fret not, as other kids will certainly enjoy these treats ... So far so good and comments are very positive.. These things are pretty addictive .

Face it and embrace it. Be a man. Be the man, and good luck to you!
lushlife Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Another thought, myrantz, why not forget power cords for the present, and produce a chord straight to your heart and the heart of your soul mate? Now that would be something unique – and a real feat.

Spearmint Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I was in Vietnam last week on business, but did manage to capture a few images in Ho Chi Minh City. They certainly go all out to celebrate New Year
diesel Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I was in Vietnam last week on business, but did manage to capture a few images in Ho Chi Minh City. Nice photos. What lens camera combo were you using. Plenty of light for night shots without any blur....
betty boop Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 yes very nice pics indeed spearmint. done very well in the low light night scenes
Spearmint Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Nice photos. What lens camera combo were you using. Plenty of light for night shots without any blur.... Thanks I used a Nikon D7000 with 18-105mm kit lens. [quote name=' timestamp='1327317820' post='1775546] yes very nice pics indeed spearmint. done very well in the low light night scenes Thanks, I'm quite impressed with the dynamic range of the sensor.

Nevyn72 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Taken with my Canon 10000D 75-3000 zoom. Paul. Wow!! Is that lens trailer mounted? I think you might need to get your '0' button fixed mate, seems to be a bit of an overabundance in your post........
Spearmint Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) Wow, fantastic pictures Spearmint All that neon and glitter and not a cheesburger in sight Thanks Mello Yello, it was a nice change not having the major food chains all over the place. Edited January 24, 2012 by Spearmint
diesel Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I used a Nikon D7000 with 18-105mm kit lens. Wow! I wouldn't have thought the lens would have been quick enough for stop action still shots with little or no blur even with VR.
myrantz Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Wow! I wouldn't have thought the lens would have been quick enough for stop action still shots with little or no blur even with VR. Seems to be high ISO and/or high shutter speed to be able to freeze the action like that (the woman and scooters appear to be moving but they have no blur). There is no noticeable noise and the details don't seem smeared... Night performance of the Nikon is impressive indeed.... Nice shots spearmint! Love the many shades of greens in the last shot.. Wonder what you can do with the new D4? *wink wink nudge nudge*
radioholic Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I was in Vietnam last week on business, but did manage to capture a few images in Ho Chi Minh City. They certainly go all out to celebrate New Year Beautiful shots spearmint..........beautiful.........
Spearmint Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Wow! I wouldn't have thought the lens would have been quick enough for stop action still shots with little or no blur even with VR. I used shutter priority set to 1/100sec as this gave me the best overall performance, so VR wasn't really an issue for me (although it is handy). Aperture and ISO were set to auto, with the upper limit of ISO set. I only bought this camera and lens to take with me as I find my FF body too heavy for this type of photography. I'm glad I only took the kit lens as it took around 20minutes from leaving the Hotel for the condensation to clear due to the humidity. Seems to be high ISO and/or high shutter speed to be able to freeze the action like that (the woman and scooters appear to be moving but they have no blur). Nice shots spearmint! Love the many shades of greens in the last shot.. Wonder what you can do with the new D4? *wink wink nudge nudge* The D4, I can only dream... I have to admit, I'm quite impressed with the results of this camera, although I did find shutter lag an issue (compared to my FF body) trying to capture (or miss) moving objects.
Spearmint Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Beautiful shots spearmint..........beautiful......... Thank you!
myrantz Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 The D4, I can only dream... Me too .. Personally (others call it fanboism) I don't like Nikon shots as I find them oversaturated and it distracts me, but whatever you're doing, it's working wonders. I have to admit, I'm quite impressed with the results of this camera, although I did find shutter lag an issue (compared to my FF body) trying to capture (or miss) moving objects. How much of a lag? Could it be a software bug? Maybe the intentionally slow the camera down for the xxxx series ....
Spearmint Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Me too .. Personally (others call it fanboism) I don't like Nikon shots as I find them oversaturated and it distracts me, but whatever you're doing, it's working wonders. Thanks for the kind words. I find cameras, like audio, cars, bikes, you name it, is a personal choice. At the end of the day I appreciate what others can and do achieve with a variety of cameras and brands, but for me its all about the comfort zone, i.e., what I'm used to using. How much of a lag? Could it be a software bug? Maybe the intentionally slow the camera down for the xxxx series .... According to one website 238ms I've no doubts, one of the reasons you pay more coin is for less shutter lag, whether this is intentional and controlled via the firmware I guess we'll never know.
