spool.dust Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Hi, Purchased from Myer in 2009 & has since only been used for less than 140 hours! Please refer to the service menu print out from Kuro Kapture. The included speakers & TV stand have never been opened, and of course the TV comes with original box, intructions etc., making interstate transport a possibility. Not sure what something like this is worth nowadays, so I'm open to offers. Thanks for looking PDP-5020FD_12-07-2014_024559.txt
mwd Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Nice Chrissy present for some lucky family. No idea of what it is actually worth. 3K ??
spool.dust Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 Nice Chrissy present for some lucky family. Agreed, and I hope whoever does buy it gets to watch & enjoy it, instead of having it in its box for the better part of 4 years
williamtassone Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Agreed, and I hope whoever does buy it gets to watch & enjoy it, instead of having it in its box for the better part of 4 years where abouts are you located ?
spool.dust Posted December 9, 2014 Author Posted December 9, 2014 I'm in the western suburbs of VIC, in Tarneit 3029 Thanks
Hi-Fi Whipped Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 If you are looking for someone to throw a number at what your TV is worth I am happy to be the first. Based on previous eBay sales and the fact you are in Melbourne (which will increase demand) i'd put your series 9 LX at around the $500 mark. GLWTS!
Anthonyw Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I'm happy to offer $500 + shipping to NSW. I was planning on grabbing a new plasma moving house this week and realised they aren't around anymore. Now tossing up second hand plasma vs lg oled
Hi-Fi Whipped Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I'm happy to offer $500 + shipping to NSW. I think he must be disappointed with how much cash he will lose, if it was me and for some reason i wanted to sell it $500 is a good price IMO.
M튆àR 2 Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Just sold my 50" Pioneer 508 XDA in excellent condition on fleabay for $520. Should get more for the LX model.
spool.dust Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 On the day that I posted this thread, I agreed to an offer made by another member of this forum, which is why I have been absent from this thread. Unfortunately, they have since withdrawn from the sale. If you are looking for someone to throw a number at what your TV is worth I am happy to be the first. Based on previous eBay sales and the fact you are in Melbourne (which will increase demand) i'd put your series 9 LX at around the $500 mark. GLWTS! Cheers, appreciate the input & support I'm happy to offer $500 + shipping to NSW.I was planning on grabbing a new plasma moving house this week and realised they aren't around anymore. Now tossing up second hand plasma vs lg oled Thanks for the offer mate, but I'd rather hold on to it for that price. Just sold my 50" Pioneer 508 XDA in excellent condition on fleabay for $520. Should get more for the LX model. That's good to know thanks, I too have one of these also & wanted to know what they're worth nowadays. I appreciate everyones input & now that I'm armed with this little bit of extra knowledge, I'm off to try my luck on fleabay & gumtree. Hopefully I can find the right buyer who may be willing to pay what I'd been previously offered.
mwd Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 (edited) With so few hours on it practically brand new should fetch good money I would not call $500 a serious offer. Only drawback is it is now out of warranty if it should break down. Surprised there was so little interest on here for the last LX Kuro beats anything you can buy today except perhaps a 55" OLED Edited December 13, 2014 by mwd
Anthonyw Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Well the op hasn't given any indication of price. Having a look through eBay the only recent sale was $999. Take out the close to 15% fees and they would have cleared $850. Prior year 60 inches have gone for this too. When someone else put out $500 it didn't seem ridiculous. Based on comments above I get the impression even this is going to be off the mark. Would be nice to know what spool.dust really does want. Whilst no doubt it's in perfect condition, it's out of warranty and still a risk of dying at any time. Mwd for $3k you could grab the brand new oled with warranty and from all accounts better picture and far mor energy efficient.
mwd Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Yes the 3K was a figure grabbed from thin air OTT. 1K seems a fairer figure and $500 would have been an absolute steal Would be interesting to see what the OP finally gets for it. If he only got lowball offers I would be inclined to hang on to it and enjoy it till it dies of old age.
Hi-Fi Whipped Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Well I hope the seller gets the price he wants for whatever it may be, considering this sale thread appears closed because he is taking it to eBay probably means I can add 2 cents to the conversation. There may well be someone out there that will pay a premium for a 5 y.o premium plasma TV without warranty but given how much technology has moved in the time since this puppy was built those people are few and far between unfortunately. The gap between risk and reward is opened the more money you spend on something like this, all it takes is for one thing to go wrong with it and you've done your dough. Get it at a great price and you'd risk it and accept that if something did go wrong you could throw it out and not much would be lost, and in the meantime you can also tell all of your friends you have the best Plasma ever made! Pay anything more than the estimate I put on it and the risk just wouldn't be worth it IMO. To the minority (enthusiasts that can see and appreciate the differences between TV technologies) this TV provides the best picture ever seen on a display (and sound to match) but to the majority of people this is just old technology. What no 3D, no wifi, no UHD, no web browser, no media streamer, no youtube, its 120mm thick........ this things a dinosaur! For what it's worth I am an enthusiast that appreciates the finer things in AV and would forgo the features for great picture and sound and I almost purchased a second hand Pioneer Plasma as a second TV, but the $150 I was paying for it was a great buy with very little risk IMO.

I've had both (the LG oled and a pioneer KRp 500m) returned my oled in 48 hours

From memory pio was 3 years. I did offer the OP a fair sum, but GF problems meant i had to leave melbourne . Compared to the garbage thats out there , Id say a 2nd GEN KURO in near new condition is easily worth what LG are asking for .

mwd Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 (edited) Are they 1080p with Hdmi ports? Yes and 3 or 4 HDMI ports + all Common inputs Edited December 14, 2014 by mwd
M튆àR 2 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Probably need to elaborate. I had 2 Pioneer Kuro 508XDA's. Stunning pictures on them as stated. I sold the one with the highest hours and purchased a Panasonic 65"ST60 ($1700). Best of both worlds now..as long as the other Kuro doesn't misbehave. mistar2
laurie Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Best of both worlds now..as long as the other Kuro doesn't misbehave. mistar2 Pioneer still able to service them I rang Pioneer up and they told me there is still a lot of parts for Kuro's they are one of their most reliable TV's ever produce,so it looks like my LX609 will be with me a bit longer cheers laurie
