Amazon prime video launched here in December last year.

OK, hadn't noticed that. Might be worth lobbying Panasonic then.

I just called their support, they told me the app is not compatible with Panasonic products, when I mentioned it works on the same player in the US they were dumbfounded.  They said they will escalate it and get back to me, not holding my breath though.

It got down to ~$440 on Videopro during the 20% off ebay sales midyear. Currently $598 on their ebay store, but use code PICNIC for 20% off to bring it down to $478.40 + $22 delivery.

Wait for Harvey Norman's once in a lifetime super weekend sale, I'm pretty sure it's on this weekend.

Yea Al i have been doing some research and from what i have seen there is a few settings that needs to be employed. My biggest concern at the moment is can this machine be set for HDR and then left.I don't need it for standard blu ray as i have the dvda1ud for that.Just using it for 4k and the like.

the pana will be fine out the box :) its the jvc will need setting up. have gone to some efforts in the jvc thread so can refer to that for some tips. jvc also go through some trouble and can get pretty decent results if follow carefully.

ps yes id definitely keep the denon for all other, would be a good match for the pana.

Well my Panasonic ub900 arrived today,so I unboxed it and to my surprise found it to be quite an attractive unit.I love the finish on top of the unit and for the money it sure is a bargain.I purchased my first 4k movie a couple of days ago, that being "Van Helsing" so I set the player up today and found setup a breeze. The big test came shortly after,so I popped the 4k movie in the tray and had the movie up and running in no time as the load times were much much quicker than my Denon "dvda1ud". To say I was happy with the 4k signal that it gave out would be a massive understatement.I was totally blown away with the sharpness of the picture and color to match. The movie had a Dts x soundtrack which was awesome. The real winner here though is the combination between the Ub900 and the Jvc projector as I could not be happier with both. The wife and 2 daughters were also blown away, especially the wife. Now also I can start to see the value of the Marantz 8802 pre amp as that being the centre piece between the two.Cant believe the video quality I am getting for such little outlay compared to what I have spent over the years as the jvc 5500 was exactly the right choice for me.

Have the same unit using the analogue outs (tube amps) with a Samsung 70 LED UHD TV and very happy, I have watched the Martian on UHD and the details along with the sound was fantastic, NETFLIX is also great (Star Wars - Rouge One 4K :) ) I have inquired about a Amazon Prime app but its not coming out :(.

?

I too run the ub900, through a Yamaha A3060 then to the Sony 520es, has worked flawlessly since day one, played all my 4k titles, even over a 15m HDMI cable.

The only thing is I wish it was a full depth component and I don't particularly like the touch buttons on the top.

Other than that it's a fantastic product.

its a completely faultless players. but some aspects irked me. no universal disc play (the sony does this). and no method of region modding (unless using software hacks which i wouldn't do). both of these solved if you use a region modded universal player to partner. also wasn't too sure on the front flap design of it or those little touch sensitive buttons on the top and also would prefer a full depth thing too. but it works and works well, faultlessly even and quite well made especially when consider the relatively small price can buy it for.

The player is certainly dwaft by my Denon a1ud that's for sure. Panasonic has kept things simple with this player maybe with the intention that "Less could mean more".They have done a great job with the quality of picture that can be had from this unit and to be honest this was exactly what I have been seeking for a while.I was going to go with the oppo 203 but  most people liked the ub900 so I went with the audience. Also the price that "Quark" put me onto was too good to walk away from.I am going to go into either big w or sanity today o pick up Pirates of the Caribbean in 4k. I said to the wife last night while watching Van Helsing,I said "no more normal bluray movies, I think we will stick with 4k".

I really like the touch buttons on top!

Only problem is, I can't see them in the dark to use them...

great to hear you are enjoying ! UHD on the JVCs are a very good thing. and am really so pleased to hear you have got there and experiencing the benefit

great news with the uhd discs is also most them come with atmos or DTS-X tracks which also gives some gains audio wise. yep I dont buy the blu-ray if the uhd is there these days :)

Talking about the remote, that's what I forgot to mention,as it's a beauty, the one button for netflix is quick access to more entertainment something that my older Denon does not have.I don't think the oppo 203 has Netflix either.Yea, the remote is well laid out and the buttons are very clear.Good for my fading eyes.

Rogue One is HD not 4K on Netflix, unless this is specific to Netflix through the Panasonic...

Yes agreed. I was going to pick up Pirates of the Caribbean but think i will hold off till the price drops a little as 37 bucks is getting out of hand from sanity and 33 or so from jb plus delivery.I have my eyes on some older 4k movies at the moment which are much more convenient for my plastic card.Times like this i wished i was living in a big city where i could go in and pick it up myself for a decent price.I will be waiting a while but it will be worth the wait.
