maudandken Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 (edited) Ah ha, OWEN has replied with some of his unique sarcasm. Personally I would have hidden for a couple of weeks and slid back in when the forum members had forgotten how much of a fool I had made of myself. But NO he compounds it by backtracking and then throws some stupid comments. BLAH BLAH BLAH. can't wait to see some of his next ones. Ok OWEN now we have a comment from an owner that has experienced the TV would you like to give us YOUR opinion of what it is like from the perspective of one who hasn't experienced the TV. I certainly am waiting with baited breath. Edited April 1, 2016 by maudandken
Tweet Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Ah ha, OWEN has replied with some of his unique sarcasm. But NO he compounds it by backtracking and then throws some stupid comments. BLAH BLAH BLAH. can't wait to see some of his next ones. thank you, end of comments by maudandken Post # 60. Are you not just trolling this thread now. Owen may be exacting in how he posts at times but he is informative in what he posts. He is a valuable contributor to this forum whether one disagrees with him or not , something that you have yet to establish. How about keeping with Post # 60 and leave it there. C.M
Owen Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 The only "back tracking" I have done is to re state what I originally said, my opinion has not changed at all and I stand by it absolutely. I dont need to see this TV to know for a fact it will be a very ordinary performer, just like every other no name LCD TV. Why anyone would expect this TV to be a game changer in the TV market is beyond me, its just not logical. Its probably the cheapest 55" TV on the market, nothing more. The owner review giving the TV a 9.9 for picture quality reinforces what I said about different people having VASTLY different opinions about "picture quality". Does anyone here seriously believe that a score of 9.9 an accurate assessment. If so what score would the Panasonic OLED get?
maudandken Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 (edited) Absolutely, no problems. As long as OWEN stops his inane comments. So this will be my last comment subject to OWENS comments. Though I must admit OWEN is mentioned in WHIRLPOOL disparagingly so his fame has spread far and wide Edited April 1, 2016 by maudandken
metal beat Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 (edited) We already have a supposedly totally unbiased opinion of an owner who rates the picture on this TV at 9.9 without calibration, making it the best TV on the planet BY FAR. What else do we need to know, an owner has spoken. Wow what a great deal for $777, people would be crazy to pass this up. The likes of Sony, Samsung, Panasonic and LG should be worried, none of their TV's rate a 9.9. Why don't you just read into what he said. He really likes the TV, period. Why go on and on and on and on and on and on about nothing really? Where did he compare to the likes of Sony, Samsung, Panasonic and LG? He compared to his Sanyo and TCL. OziNUT Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Are you going to buy one? Pretty much all of what he said is very likely true and should be considered when buying any TV, unless you don't care and it's just to impress mates or for the kids room. What I can't work out is why you are so passionately annoyed about Owen stating the obvious? well i did and i can say after watching some 4k from you tube the Sony 4k demo i am totally impressed with the quality for the price sure its not up there with the more expensive products but for the price i do think its good value for the money
Owen Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Where did he compare to the likes of Sony, Samsung, Panasonic and LG? He compared to his Sanyo and TCL. He didn't, and thats the problem. Probably never seen a calibrated high quality display so has no reference point and doesn't know what to look for which make him a poor judge. The inaccurate colour should have been glaringly obvious. If he likes the TV that's fine, good luck to him he is easily pleased like millions of consumers, but that does not make it a good TV. As I said before, the ONLY way people will know if this ALDI TV is an acceptable option for them is to buy one.
jmone Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I don't post often but I appreciate Owen's views and think this forum would be lessened without him and others with strong (and divergent) views. Now the real Q is where is my 100"+ Quality Light Emitting (not PJ) Panel?
Owen Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Don't hold your breath mate. The other factor is affordability, not going to be viable with a $100K plus price tag, which is what 100" plus panels have gone for.
Guest Malich Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I find Owen a bit argumentative myself, but ... Though I must admit OWEN is mentioned in WHIRLPOOL disparagingly so his fame has spread far and wide ... he should consider that as a badge of honour. Whirlpool is largely populated by arrogant cocksure idiots who have very little to be arrogant about.
JSmith Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 The likes of Sony, Samsung, Panasonic and LG should be worried, none of their TV's rate a 9.9. Where did he compare to the likes of Sony, Samsung, Panasonic and LG? He compared to his Sanyo and TCL. He didn't... I think it was you Owen... 9.9 is bloody ridiculous, we all know it. But what the poster is trying to say is he is happy with it and it is good for him. I think we may find this is better than we would be expecting for a cheap as Aldi TV... but sure, not up to the standard of a $4000 TV. The thing is... why would anyone actually expect it to be? If they can't see any difference where we can, all good for them surely... ignorance is bliss? JSmith
maudandken Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Oh no another one who bought this TV gives another opinion on WHIRLPOOL . So two people that have bought this TV have given it a favourable plus mark.
oztheatre Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Oh no another one who bought this TV gives another opinion on WHIRLPOOL . So two people that have bought this TV have given it a favourable plus mark. A favourable plus mark BASED on the price. A sub 800 TV is likely produced for next to nothing, about 150 bucks is what these things cost. That's a tonne of things left out to keep the price down. Manufacturer sells in bulk to distributor for 250-300, for example, then shipping and logistics - customs - port charges - clearance - fumigation, wages, distributor, more transport, warranties, insurance, then the store markup, there's your 800 dollar TV. You just can't get Maserati performance from a Vanguard spacemaster. It might display TV well enough for some, but you just cannot expect good image quality and great features out of something so very cheap... and you can apply that logic to anything really. It is good value based on the price and this is why they're producing them. They're going for the low end in price which has to mean low end in quality. you can't cheat. Many people also buy things like this and suffer from buyers remorse. They find ways to extract the good from the TV in this example and sweep the bad under the rug.. It's not that bad they say, then they move to, it's good for the money actually, look the remote lights up, then it's bargain of the year.
maudandken Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 your comments are noted BUT you are only going on supposition 2 people have bought 2 people have made favourable comments about the picture. I must be missing something here. the only 2 people that have bought and made comments. I have no doubt some will not like the quality as I did not with my first TV but please don't give it a ragging if you haven't seen it. you just add to the moronic comments(negative) made here. I note you are a respected COMMERCIAL RETAILER here, would you suggest one of your clients bag one of you're products without seeing it or hearing it, I think not.
rty Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I read at least one comment by someone who bought one and was returning it. Something about hot pixels?
rty Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 There's also another guy, who must have bought one, complaining its locked to 60hrtz. So perhaps not all who have bought it are that exstatic?
JSmith Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 ... its locked to 60hrtz. That makes no sense... if you feed it a normal 50Hz signal it will display it @ 50Hz. If you feed it a 60Hz signal it will display it at 60Hz... like it is supposed to. JSmith
rty Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 That makes no sense... if you feed it a normal 50Hz signal it will display it @ 50Hz. If you feed it a 60Hz signal it will display it at 60Hz... like it is supposed to. JSmith Going by what is said on Whirlpool, via your link, he seems to suggest that the MAXIMUM NATIVE refresh rate is 60hrtz ... Obviously less is fine ... The panel can take more as he forced 100hrts to it.
mwd Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Wonder if this also called a Hitachi in other areas like the 65" was that unknowing people paid 3x the amount for. Also Kogan cheapies spruik up having Samsung panels.
cwt Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Exactly mwd its entirely possible its an oem or rebranded tv like aldi have done before [ they have used hitachi panels in the past i dug up] as i posted early in the tread 'seem to remember aldi selling rebranded hitachi's in the past' ... Surplus panels sold of cheap to aldi then rebranded bauhns no one here knows ; some posts seem so certain of things its incredible ; notice any similarities between the specs/features with this hitachi What a coincidence this one takes a 100hz refresh rate too.. https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/hitachi-uz557000-55-inch-139cm-4k-uhd-smart-led-lcd-tv/?utm_source=getprice&utm_medium=cse&utm_campaign=Smart%20TVs&utm_content=Hitachi_UZ557000&utm_term=UZ557000 Wonder if this also called a Hitachi in other areas like the 65" was that unknowing people paid 3x the amount for. maudandken Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Very interesting comments by BASSET over on WHIRLPOOL and then read 2 comments by an owner of this TV TAXMAN 74. he gives a very well balanced opinion of the tv he bought and owns
GRP Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 A 40" 4K at Aldi for $444.00 on 16 April. Not just any old Bauhn TV but a Black Series Bauhn TV. I find it amusing that it is advertised with age care comforts such as as wheelchairs, walker frames, bed pads, large dial scales and large button phones - indicative of the intended market?
Blackman1503561291 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Aldi now have a 58 Inch Black series for $888. Talking to the managers the other day and he tells me that they are thinking of bringing the Daddy of them all (the big one bigger than 65 inch ) to Australia later this year. Would not tell what size. Possibly he did not know the size so since this is the case we should look what sizes they make for the world market.
