mello yello Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) been wondering what the new ones will look like as the last range went a little backwards in ergonomic design compared to the ultra slim bezels they had a couple of years ago, and happy to see a bit of a facelift http://www.flatpanelshd.com/article.php?subaction=showfull&id=1460114926 quite a few variants of 6 Series, be aware 6 series do not have the hardware to process HDR, even though the specs have it included ambiguously "We are entering the 6 series. These are no longer branded “SUHD” but will still offer 4K resolution. Samsung also advertises HDR but be aware that none of the 6 series models have the hardware to reproduce HDR, hence “HDR processing”. They can receive the HDR material but not reproduce it." none have 3D .... Edited April 12, 2016 by mello yello

Blackman1503561291 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) Eventually I will replace our 100 inch Hecto projector with some manufacturer's Tv around the 85 inch + size (can't go to small). Yes I know it will be expensive but I can't take our money with me after I cark it. As soon as Oppo bring out a good 4K player I will start looking for a good size TV in that 12 month period that does all or close to it what is needed today for 4K viewing. Yes saving my money now and I'm that tight that i'm using both side of the toilet paper. After I purchase the 4K telle I will move the Hecto to our second TV room, sack that 70 inch telle and move that to the third TV room and sack that TV and put that on gumtree.(PS that's a 65 inch 4K 3D Hisence.) Well put it this way I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't go out anywhere I like staying home and making out house as comfortable as possible. Edited April 12, 2016 by Blackman

mello yello Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 JSmith more likely that other Greek god, Homer (Simpson)
Jliang70 Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Thanks mate, I now know a rough pricing for my new TV so I can draw up a saving plan.
sero Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 7k for 65" not worth it IMO. Shame all brands have not realised 75" - 85" is where it's at.
Blackman1503561291 Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 7k for 65" not worth it IMO. Shame all brands have not realised 75" - 85" is where it's at. Yes I'm not even considering anything below 85 inch for my next TV being a 4K one. I don't care if its not Oled (sorry Owen) I'm not after that much perfection I just want size. I will be happy with a LED LCD that does HDCP 2.2, HDMI 2.0a, 10 bit panel and all the other jargon that comes with it. 3D ? forget that, All the "APP" crap that comes with them today I say forget that too. I just want a big Mutha of a TV that is fair to good watching 4K blu rays. FULL STOP!!
mello yello Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 they will be $6K before you know it MB's new 9500 series SONY 75incher is actually wider than my bathroom!! LoL http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php/topic/191461-worthy-replacement-for-a-pio-lx608a/?p=2056933 ill be happy with 65inches @ $2.5K Samsung have dropped 3D across their whole range
sero Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 After reading that flat panel site it seems Panasonic biggest TV is 65" such a shame and mistake on there part. I can't really understand that when there commercial TV sizes go to 100"+ Sony, LG and Samsung are the only ones offering 85"+
Skoda Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Thats Apollo HiFi in Marrickville, Sydney, they are just as reputable as Eastwood HiFi or any other audiophile class retailer and offer great service and prices to people in the Sydney area if they are going to stock a certain television you can be assured it will be audiophile / videophile grade and quality You sure seem to schill the same store a lot.
JSmith Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 You sure seem to schill the same store a lot. How would you know... "new member"? The fact is he's mentioned them twice... so? Many businesses get mentioned here on a regular basis... this doesn't mean members have any "affiliation". For a new member, you're sure biting everyone a lot... or is that your MO? Do you have anything to say in relation to Samsung 2016 models? I'll be trying to save $ for family on a 2015 model once they come out. JSmith
mello yello Posted April 15, 2016 Author Posted April 15, 2016 thanks Smithy, i thought i clearly answered his query in post #9 no need to repeat myself ;-)
mello yello Posted April 15, 2016 Author Posted April 15, 2016 The SONY flagship is only available in 75inch, no glass bezel though ? XD94, "direct LED backlight" (is that an OLED variation?) and what is this from yonder window breaks ? a SONY curved TV ? is that SONY's first curved TV ?
mello yello Posted April 15, 2016 Author Posted April 15, 2016 everyone should be aware of this HDR labelling and look closely if each TV actually has the full HDR capability as they are labelled "HDR processing" which would be the equivalent of saying a 720P television "accepts and displays a HD signal" on the other hand, some may not want HDR so that could be a good thing to not have to pay for
Jliang70 Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Exactly, you can have HDR processing, it could mean HDR processing to HDR or SDR. I think most of UHD player can pass HDR to HDR and they are supposed to be able to convert HDR to SDR.
JSmith Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 XD94, "direct LED backlight" (is that an OLED variation?) Nah... they may mean a full array LED dimming system rather than edgelit. JSmith
sero Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Someone mentioned a Panasonic OLED? In that 2016 list no one is doing OLED except LG
