They were somewhere around that mark. I bought a pair of RS1's in 2008 which were $950 rrp.

To say that the BR1's rrp was $1400 is just a scam.

Yeah, these have been doing the rounds for a while now.  I saw them a few weeks back and had a chuckle.  They've been well and truly superseded by other MA models, which can be had for less than $500.

 

if this bloke really paid $950 for them, then he got supremely ripped off.

I had similar many years ago, and even though I enjoyed it then, there's no way it's worth UKP30k. I was never fond of the Naim electronics and thought they were crap. You could have a cabinet maker professionally clone Terry's Franks and still have change on a system that would beat it on every level.

I had one in a really good way today. I bought some replacement earpads and headband cushion for my Senn HD518's that my puppy took for a chew toy. I bought them in two different listings from the same seller, without realising he also did them as a package, so I paid $4 too much postage. Without asking, he did a paypal partial refund for it.
