Some judicious use of DuraTex and all 'good'. The other cabinet not in your pics here looks worse!

I don't have the pictures/ad but a while back on Ebay did anyone see the Yamaha NS1000's that had those nasty Beryllium tweeters replaced with the cheap bullet types, as everyone knows that they are drop in replacements. The seller said that they had been replaced and sounded great, the starting price was $650.00.

That ones been on ebay relisted again and again) for ages.

What really makes you raise your eyebrow about the listing is this:

Postage (at a guess) will be around $100'ish Australia based, and approx $200'ish for o/s - as this beast is heavy.  Will also require a lot of bubble wrap.  Work with me to finalise postage as cost effectively as we can.

For $100 ish I can get it shipped to New Zealand. For $200 ish I can get it shipped to Asia and lower East Coast of the States. Does this guy think we are idiots and don't know the rough costs for domestic postage?

I seem to remember this primitive portable Dual table that someone wanted to sell for about 5 centuries for...well ages. Rare, genuine etc were the words the seller used.

Assuming the NS-1000 woofers, crossover and cab are unmolested or at least in respectable shape for the cab, $650.00 is a very good price as you can source a set of NOS or working tweeters from Japan (if you know where to look) for around $200-300 and sometimes less. So that works at around $850-950 range for a speaker which normally sells at $1300+ and only used/average condition at best (exception of ones that are in excellent condition they can fetch over $1.8k when demand is heavy).

I could have bought a fully working pair for $600.00, this was in the U.S. as gear prices are way lower than here in Australia which are astronomical BTW, when I lived there I bought a Jolida 801A with all the upgrades for $275.00. Here's it in my bedroom system with Technics SL-7 and BA 200's. I sold it later on because it was way too hot, as in it would heat up the room and in Houston Texas you don't need anymore heat.

Well of course the prices for vintage gear go for fairer prices in the US then here. My personal dealings with people all around the world is that the sellers in the states are less inclined to flip gear for profit (looked down upon there) but not here.
