Sometimes if you push it in the right direction it will continue that direction and play fine. Apparently this isn't completely unusual." Perfect for all those records with backward masking on them.

JukKluk2 Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 This is on Gumtree but it still makes me go, umm......... https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/berwick/other-audio/luxman-570x-integrated-amplifier-true-class-a/1139056810 The wording is more like reading an Accuphase brochure than anything else. Is it legit? Who knows, but it's definitely odd.

Has shocking feedback and a history of being deceptive. Has great gear though at rediculous prices.

JukKluk2 Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Another odd bod here: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mudgeeraba/stereo-systems/parasound-jc1-monoblock-amplifier/1141551144?utm_source=criteo&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=MF-audio_stereo_systems Generic photo's make me suspicious, and, only one monobloc. That's what you would call a narrow market.

robin-hobart Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 (edited) Tell me the following isn't dodgy.... Friend sent me this link - site called 'buyusedproductions.com' re a pair of AN speakers for sale. http://www.buyusedproductions.com/items/Excellent-Audio-Note-AN-J-Speakers-Fully-Boxed-Ship-Worldwide.php This site is only 5 months old, everything tends to be a bit pricey, has a 'generic' feel, no info whatever about where the stuff is located, inquiries are forwarded to 'The Poster'. Out of curiosity I sent a query - and to my absolute delight & surprise, the seller is happy to accept the asking price of $850 in AUD, and to include international shipping in that figure... Guest scumbag Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Umm indeed. They state that it goes down to 25hz but also gets 93 db/w/m in a 45litre box. So there goes those pesky laws of physics again.......

Guest scumbag Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Well assuming no bass EQ is in play then in order to get -6dB (in the established understood sense of the term) from a 33litre box, your woofer will be limited to about a max' of 86dB/w/m sensitivity. Or put another way, if you had a driver that had a sensitivty of 93dB, in a 33litre box tuned using a classical ported alignment, your F6 would be around 43Hz. You can't bend it both ways - you trade off sensitivity for extension in any given box size and vise versa. Laws of physics and all that. So either this particular box does not get down to 25hz -dB using any sort of accepted standard i.e. 6dB below reference OR the sensitivity is grossly overstated. I don't doubt that in-room you could carefully augment the bass to perhaps get an F6 of 26hz. I note that the manufacturer don't show any frequency response graphs on their site and don't seem to post Thiele Small parameters which is always somewhat off putting. This is the only graph I can find of an audionote set of speakers. http://www.stereophile.com/content/audio-note-e-lexus-signature-loudspeaker-measurements#KHBMqLhuwAPihGxM.97 So yes, if we use the Stereophile measurements as an indication of how Audionote tune and specify their speakers, the "F6" is 25hz but only so long as you measure it against itself i.e. in isolation of the rest of the system which goes against the commonly accepted convention for stating the frequency cutout in a set of speakers. This is not intended as a slight on AudioNote. I have not heard their speakers in action and I'm sure they are very nice and get down low in a room scenario. And I only find lots of woofer movement disconcerting when there's smoke coming off the voice coil.
