Brand new high speed HDMI cables (also swapped them for older cables to see if they were a problem).
LG OLED (brand new).

I’ve tried both 1 and 2 out ports (to see if I can get any sound from the TV).
NB I am getting sound from other inputs so the system itself is working.

What brand - there's lots of crud out there that won't do 4K.

Sorry, just saw the question on which TV port. I can’t answer that at the moment - its a big TV - takes x3 to get it off the wall!

I think its the eARC/ARC. Which should it be?

That should work.

On AVM60, you need to use HDMI 1 output to connect to TV, and also enable CEC control.  Please check manual for more details.

On LG, you need to enable eARC or ARC or something similar (sorry, never owned LG).  There may be more than 1 setting you need to enable? Again, check manual, this time of TV.

CEC. eARC. ARC etc. can be tricky to get going.  Different vendors call things differently and you will need to read the manuals and experiment....

Thanks for the info. Now I can focus on the specifics of setting up the x2 applicable ports 👍

Very much appreciated.

I’ve configured the TV as suggested and set up a new input, named ARC. Any suggestions on the configuration settings for this new input? The manual doesn’t provide any information and Anthem tech support (via email) has only advised the need to create a new input, but hasn’t responded to my question on configuration settings.
I’m confused, because I can allocate HDMI ports 1 through 7 but there is no option to allocate either of the x2 hdmi outs - which is what has to be used.
Point of sweating frustration has been reached!

The video input does not matter. Set Audio input to HDMI Audio Return.

Phil, I would go back to the very beginning and I suggest switching off all HDMI-CEC protocols first to verify whether the issue is hardware related or due to a handshaking issue between the processor and the TV.

That means deactivating it on the Anthem, disengaging "Simplink" on the LG TV and other other HDMI connected devices.

Once that is done, I suggest turning the power off at the mains for min 30 seconds, switch it back on and test to see if you have a picture.

I suspect this will work. HDMI-CEC is one of those features that for years has had gremlins lurking beneath the surface. When it works, it is great, but when it doesn't, it is infuriating.

Sure is frustrating. There are x3 CEC settings. The manual says turn CEC to On, with no mention of the other settings “enable” or “disable”. To say the manual lacks detail is an understatement.
Thanks for the advice. My wife’s advice is to take it back to the shop and get a Sonos!

It is not necessarily the Anthem, I had the same issues linking a Panasonic TV with Denon AVR and Sony Bluray - I would bet it is to do with the handshaking between the devices.

This is the reason I still use a digital optical cable from my TV to my receiver, in order to use ARC/eARC the HDMI-CEC protocols need to be on.

And, I’m stoked. Haven’t even done the room correction. It sounds fantastic 😁

I recently picked up the AVM70 (after also trialing a lyngdorf MP-40). Very, very happy with the purchase.  The AVM70 is a great sounding and looking unit. Haven't encountered any bugs or issues yet.

Curious whether you compared Room Perfect with ARC?

Yes I did. In my room, with my speakers and my calibration efforts with both a few weeks apart (not back to back) both sounded excellent and much better than my Yamaha Avr. Both room correction systems were extremely easy to use. Room perfect uncovered a fault in my speaker (which i got replaced under warranty).  I didn’t think one or the other was miles ahead to be honest. A more sophisticated listener may have had a very different opinion or scoff at the fact I even dared to compare the anthem with the lyngdorf :).

Thank you. It is good to get a first hand perspective. While I have used ARC, Dirac Live and a number of other packages, I doubt that I will get to play with RoomPerfect.

And not hard to beat YPAO!

Not sure whether you have taken things further with ARC but have you tried some of these tweaks?

Does anyone know why I’m unable to passthrough HDR via hdmi 2 please ? I’ve even tried the Spears and munsil UHD 4k disc with no luck it was only BT709. Hdmi 1 is okay but HDMI 2 no luck. HDMI 1 is the JVC NX  and HDMI 2 is Epson TW9400.  No issues with the Marantz so not sure if I’m doing anything wrong.

Try swapping or changing cables?
