iceblinkfroufrou Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 I got my first vinyl album today in the post, Wind and Wuthering by Genesis, now i need to get a turntable! I've also ordered a couple of other records too, Crime of the Century by Supertramp and Hounds of Love by Kate Bush. The reasons are i'm always reading about how much better sounding records are. When i did have vinyl a long time ago, i never compared it with cds. The other reason is the great covers that are available. Sure cds have the same picture on the front but record covers are more than just pictures. I've been looking at second hand turntables but haven't had any joy so far. However i thought if i add another $80-$100 i'd be able to get a reasonable entry level player. There is one in particular i've been considering, the Audio-Technica LP 60. It has a lot of very good reviews and some have claimed it's the best entry level turntable around, the cheapest i've found is $188. Anyone familiar with this player?
Volunteer Kazz Posted July 22, 2017 Volunteer Posted July 22, 2017 Not familiar with that TT but have you looked in the FS threads on SNA? There are TT's for sale almost constantly over there and you'll find you can getter a better TT for your money second hand than going entry level new. I went entry level with a Project Debut Carbon but in less than 12 months had upgraded to a TT a few step uo from there and now am extremely happy.

Have you got a scanner? http://www.cs.huji.ac.il/~springer/DigitalNeedle/ Or just take a lot of photos and stitch them together... 8 hours ago, itchyglowbo said: The reasons are i'm always reading about how much better sounding records are. Maybe on the first play. It's all downhill after that.
