Kezzbot Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Hey guys does anyone know where I can get a subwoofer flat pack in Australia? I know in America they have many options in flat packs and you can grab one for around 100 US dollars. I just doubt they would send one to Australia, for a reasonable price anyway Sent from my SM-N920I using Tapatalk
Hippy Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 You can use that Australia Post reshipping service as it often saves on the stupid America Tax (shipping). Never heard of flat pack sub tho. Linky?
Kezzbot Posted September 14, 2017 Author Posted September 14, 2017 these look good: http://www.diysoundgroup.com/sealed-subwoofer-flatpacks.html id be interested in the last one, the 4 cu ft one.
Jone5y Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Paul at Red Spade does some flat pack kits http://redspade-audio.blogspot.com.au/2017/06/rythmik-12-flat-pack.html As do LSK http://www.theloudspeakerkit.com/lsk-s8-active-subwoofer-kit 1
Kezzbot Posted September 14, 2017 Author Posted September 14, 2017 cheers for that, but really looking for the 18" variety.
GRP Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Parts Express in the US do flat pack sub kits including a Dayton 18" and they will ship just about anywhere. 1
Kezzbot Posted September 14, 2017 Author Posted September 14, 2017 (edited) i saw that . 2x dayton 18" drivers and flat pack was about $550 in shipping alone. bit too high. Edit. i wonder if you could get a subwoofer like this to go below 20hz : https://djcity.com.au/product/skytec-swa18-18-inch-powered-subwoofer/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw0ejNBRCYARIsACEBhDPt1wTeK5j7u_S9wd2-VEv8DDW-MVwAj6bJDmT587aljHAaBpW9r0IaApkMEALw_wcB Edited September 14, 2017 by Kezzbot
Hippy Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 A couple of us have CNC machines why not just cut one?
Kezzbot Posted September 18, 2017 Author Posted September 18, 2017 CNC machine. wow very advanced. looks like they would be fun to play around with. yeah, looks like the best option will be to cut myself either 16mm ply or mdf using jig and circular saw. any of you guys ordered the Stereo Integrity 18HT subwoofer driver from the US? looks like amazing value, apart from the fact that it costs more the ship it to Australia then the driver itself. If the shipping wasn't much more for two, then id get two of them. can't find any cheap places as of yet.
Kezzbot Posted September 18, 2017 Author Posted September 18, 2017 (edited) 54x59x36 14kg each Edited September 18, 2017 by Kezzbot
acg Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Try these guys...https://www.transdirect.com.au/ If you have two boxes in the same shipment you will save a bit compared to sending the two boxes separately.
Hippy Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Might be worth working out shipping mdf bits from Adelaide assuming 16mm MDF.... I have a sheet of 16 sitting here atm. Will run machine for grog 3
Kezzbot Posted September 18, 2017 Author Posted September 18, 2017 (edited) $730 using transdirect website via TNT. It says I need a truck with a hydraulic tailgate because over 30kg, which would take it to $800. $400 for one. thats shipping only. lol thanks for the offer Hippy, will see, i might hit you up . have to get the drivers first. Edit. but not at that price. Edited September 18, 2017 by Kezzbot
Hippy Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Theres me and Silent Screamer as well as a couple commercial guys who are into audio on the forum who have their own cnc machines. Screamer is in Brissie and theres another guy in Melbourne (I think).
STAIN0 Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 (edited) do yourself a favour and google martysub. i just built 2 minimarty's, may start a build thread. (probably should of taken more photos though) Edited September 18, 2017 by STAIN0 1
Kezzbot Posted September 18, 2017 Author Posted September 18, 2017 (edited) yep i know about minimarty, fullmarty, johnny sub and others but I want to stick with 2 sealed. would be preferable for me because of size and time to build. edit. Nice shot, nice build! What driver did you get and where? Edited September 18, 2017 by Kezzbot 1

Nice shot, nice build! What driver did you get and where? i went with the Ultimax 18-22 from parts express. initial thoughts are OMFG!!! just got the one set up at the moment and did some REW calibration. Can't imagine what it will be like when i get the second one set up (tonight hopefully) They definately are HUGE, and these are just the mini's. have you tried modelling with WinISP?
Kezzbot Posted September 18, 2017 Author Posted September 18, 2017 not I. so parts express are cheaper then theloudspeakerkit.com.au http://www.theloudspeakerkit.com/dayton-audio-um18-22-18-ultimax-dvc-subwoofer-dual ? I think they just put the price up from ~$550 to $640 + $10 shipping
STAIN0 Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 (edited) i paid US$280 each + US$245 shipping. (approx AU$1000 for 2 delivered) looks like they only gone up US$20 since Feb this year Edited September 18, 2017 by STAIN0 1
Kezzbot Posted September 18, 2017 Author Posted September 18, 2017 ok great. you will have to give us your critical thoughts on the differences of one vs two subs, once you finish your second of course. I know allot of people like me are questioning the cost of another sub vs the improvement. 1

Guest Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Hi pass filter or almost any filter is not the problem with damage like that Power and excursion is, may have been a fault in the spider gluing process. Bad luck as normally large drivers are rather tough and durable
STAIN0 Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 yer, hoping thats the case, as gluing it back together does not seem that difficult. my issue is i dont want to do the same thing to my second one, so if i did something wrong i need to correct it beforehand.
STAIN0 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 sorry for the hijack, i have started my own Marty build thread in the DIY section.
