I've joined your club @The Bluesman - took one for a demo and couldn't resist!

So the love was short lived. After only around 100kms of trails:

Brakes have faded to nothing - probably just needing a bleed, no biggie.

Battery depleted on two occasions of only around 20kms rides on single trail in Trail mode (40+ degrees days)

Motor cuts in and out randomly at 17-18 kph.

Front axle cam-lock unscrewing itself from axle itself.

Motor/Screen dead.

It's gone back to Shimano under warranty. I've forewarned them I expect it repaired and returned to me in 10 business days, else a replacement bike will be expected.

Here's hoping.

Holy hell Marc, was this bike new when you got it or a Demo, I now have 7 mates all with E160 900s and all good, mine has done almost 1000KLMs with no issues, only just replaced the brake pads, took mine down to Thredbo the other week, rode from Bullocks Flat to Thredbo via some beaut track, did 2 runs down the slopes and back to Bullocks, all up 60 Kays in heatwave conditions, battery was almost spent, awesome ride

Hopefully you get your one fixed and Shimano are pretty good with warranty etc, you'll get the love back

Heard from the LBS today. Not a bad outcome.

  • Brakes
    •  Just needed a bleed as suspected. They're done quickly from the factory. Worth redoing once the bike's been upside a few times.
  • Battery depleted on two occasions of only around 20kms rides on single trail in Trail mode (40+ degrees days)
  • Motor cuts in and out randomly at 17-18 kph
  • Motor/Screen dead.
    • Fortunately, all related to the same cause. The main wire from the motor to the screen had a break inside the frame.
They claim to have solved all these problems by running a new wire direct, but now have to remove the motor to run the new wire.
  • Front axle cam-lock unscrewing itself from axle itself.
    • An odd one as it's a left-hand thread. Seems a bit of Loctite on the thread of the axle into the cam lock will solve it (and potentially meant to be there from factory).

Should have the bike back by the weekend, with a nice Tubeless upgrade at the same time.

Have also ordered some nice short 150mm crank arms from Miranda (Delta SH) which seem to be all the rage on the EMTB forums.

Shorter cranks will make a big difference, I'm sick n tired of my cranks hitting rocks and tree roots etc, almost threw me off the bike at Thredbo, will look into those as well

This was my last new bike, waay back in 2005. Before this I used to go through mtb's at the rate of one every 18 months or so.

It's a DeVinci Banzai that I built up with Rockshox Pike SL forks, Fox Talas Float RC rear shock, Mavic Crossmax XL wheels, and Shimano Saint drivetrain. It was pretty state-of-the-art back then.

I bought all the parts while living in Japan, then bought the frame when we came back to Oz at the start of 2005. I'm still riding this in the bush (Mt Stromlo etc), but it's getting a bit tired.

I got a flat yesterday, first one in many years, so went to the bike shop to get a new tyre, and came out having ordered a new bike. It should arrive next week!

Ok something a little different. This was my Christmas present, a 30th anniversary Haro Master. A nice addition to my bike collection ? Was my dream bike well...30 years ago! Geez time flies. Still remember a trick or two.

The quality and finish on it is amazing. Any other old school BMX'ers out there?

Got brilliant MTB trails on my doorstep - no need to use a car to get to the trailhead!

Mate you are gonna get back on that bike for your own well being, you can do it and master it otherwise you'll be forever miserable, trust me as I'm a Bluesman and I don't wanna be giving you Harmonica Lessons for the wrong reasons

@Marc I understand where you're coming from. After crashing 18 months ago at 80km/h (luckily onto a road so no sudden stop) and cracking my sternum, it took me many months to get back on the bike. My collar bone is still out and always will be which causes a little bit of pain every now and then, but with the knowledge that I'm lucky to be here, getting back on the bike was the most rewarding thing.

From reading your thread, it seems like a long road back for you right now with a lot of unknowns but I'm sure you'll find a way to work through it.

One thing I can highly recommend when you're able/ready is a Kickr trainer and Zwift. It kept me going for about 6 months before I ventured back out on the road.

Photo of my last scan  of my sternum for sh*ts and giggles below. Top right is my collar bone - riding high..

I would like most cyclists more if they rode one of these.

The 2013 Lynskey R230 atop Mount Buffalo yesterday afternoon. I've put 61,000 kms on this beauty and my bum and legs should hopefully still be able to put a lot more on.

I would have ridden past it today then as I did the loop - Bright-Stanley-Beechworth-Railtrail back to Bright. What a gorgeous day it was.

Wow! A thread with bike enthusiasts and hifi lovers!

I ride either a road or Cx bike for my daily commutes into work. They are nice but they are considered my 2nd system.

The bikes that that really put a huge smile on my face just like my Dynaudio’s are below:

2015 intense spider 275A custom build - comes down a mountain like a Bentley!

2017 Giant trance advance - rides down a mountain like track car. Fun but don’t get seduced by the increased speed if you can’t handle it.

A lot of impressive rides to be seen on this thread.

Enjoy your bikes gentlemen! BTW I’m new to the hifi journey. I’ve been pissing funds on bikes for many years and now HIFI is on the list of addictions ?
