Hi all,


Up for sale is a pair of beloved original AKG K701 headphones with the original stand and packaging in excellent like new 9/10 condition (no loose strings, faded lettering, yellowed pads etc.), which were the super early batches that made in Austria with the studio logo. These are not only sounded better but also come with much better build quality than the current in production ones that are now cheaply made by new OEM factory in China - no longer the same reputed headphones anymore, and yeah, you get what you paid. These original K701s sound so much relaxed but with the same if not more details than the current and later Austria made ones without the studio logo. These, in my opinion, are on a par with HD600s for most classic and exceed them in terms of sole violin and piano replay.


I purchased these ones new from Europe for completing the collection at a fortune (US$500+) quite a few years back and now finally made the hard decision to liquidate it as I will be soon relocated. I alwaya baby my gear and these were kept in its original packaging with the wool headband sleeve and just got taken out for pictures.


These are great cans that should belong to a serious collector and deserve a better home to get some more use. I didn't get to use them at all and have only put on a few hours (<5?) for some short comparisons with the other K701s (these were the ones sounded the best and kept in the end) in first few days. 


I am asking AU$350 cash on pickup for them excluding any postage or commission fees. This is essentially more than 45% off the price paid + I will throw in a nice customised wool sleeve (worth $30) to sweeten the deal a bit. I highly doubt you would ever find any other pairs in such great condition. I did see people pay a lot more recently for similar ones but in much worse shape. Not sure, but chances are the price would keep going higher with time passing. I would probably regret for selling these too early.
