zog Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 (edited) This years Rainbow Serpent Festival has a good lineup, I especially like the acts playing on the Market Stage https://www.rainbowserpent.net/the-market-stage The Chill zone stage lineup also ain't bad: https://www.rainbowserpent.net/chill-stage tickets are sold out though Edited January 14, 2018 by zog 1
Jim Johnston Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 The vibe was great as usual, but I think this year the festival was a bit of a let down, the stages normally look amazing, this year they looked average at best. I also thought the music on the market was jarring with no flow from artist to artist, also some dj's sets went from high tempo to low tempo and back again, all over the place really. I won't even go there about the main, the least said the better. I've been going to rainbow since 2000 and have had some of the best times of my life there, but I think the organisers have gone a bit stale and its all about profit now. They keep rehashing the same artists every couple of years. I still had a fantastic time catching up with friends and new friends , but its not the rainbow it once was. 1
Jim Johnston Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 I had a great time Steffan, still a beautiful place to be, so much love up there, will be there next year. How's the main and market sound systems, now that's head room ! cheers, Jim.
Addicted to music Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 There will be more photos and videos posted in the following days weeks. My son attends every year. A word of warning; its deafening! https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCy-rVHBZEOnscquXxVZcucw 3
LogicprObe Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 No sound level restrictions? Sounds great! 1

Expand I always take earplugs to gigs.. although it's easier to adjust the volume at outdoor shows (by walking further back!) yes RSF was pretty loud in places, and I had my earplugs in quite a few times. I had a great time though the weather was challenging. I was fortunate enough to be one of the performers.. playing more ambient / chilled out music. Was good hearing "main stage" acid/techno in clear, loud, outdoor soundsystems with the laser lightshows, "how its supposed to sound". 1
O.Sydney Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 This was my third year shooting for RSF so I'm probably a little biased in my comments so I won't too much. Culture, colour, music and art is what I notice the most and loved it all as usual. Our country is so dynamic / huge contrasts in weather. The sound systems were all really clear this year, (except in the pit as you'd expect) I noticed it was better tuned than in previous years. More than once I was walking away from a stage and turned around to soak up the big outdoor clear sound. I get in amounts the crowd dancing for close up crowd shots and could chat to them fairly easily (considering where I was) Next year we should have an SNA catch up there 2

Jim Johnston Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 No one's too old for Rainbow , put it on the bucket list. I keep saying its my last, but I'm going next year , might even go to Pitch in March, now that's a line up. 1
