Finally had a chance to fit the Peavey compression driver to the Large ev horns and had a listen for the first time. Very Impressed.

No crossover point just yet, just listened with the treble reduced a bit on the preamp. Just listened on an old awai 50 watt ss amp/pre. I have a battery powered crossover that I was going to try.

Cool! 3way is good. Depending on the crossover points. In my experience you may need a super tweeters.

Bit low for a super tweeter. But not to low for a ribbon!

The peavey goes to 20khz so I dont think i need a super anyway. I could probably slot in the vitavox 12 inch woofer for a midrange, maybe

I could try the altec 604/605 2 way crossover which is 1600hz.

The bracket i made on the left is not strong enough to hold the driver so its back to the drawing board.

They will "go" to 20k but usually with a 10-15db drop from about 10k onwards. Just a thought. If your happy with the sound, thats all that matters mate. I'm just happy someone else is playing with horns!

Impressive driver mate.
What's the plan for a new bracket?

I did see an antenna bracket at Bunnings that might work. Even the original bracket is only just strong enough. These are heavy drivers.

Hi,

How did you go with the mounting bracket? Just starting the exact same project as you and struggling to mount the EV HP9040 horns to my bass cabinet. Would love to see how you finished it
