Zaphod Beeblebrox Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 (edited) The changer will likely be a BSR or a Garrard. You need to identify which. There will also be a model number. Often that number will be somewhere on the changer. You may need to remove the changer and examine the bottom, as there will almost certainly be a part number in that location. Removal of the changer is tricky, but not impossible in most cases. Once you have the brand and model number, then you may be able to locate a replacement. A good, old, repair guy can probably repair your changer. Automatic changers of that age suffer with hardened grease. The grease has to be removed and replaced. It is not a cheap job, but it is often the only solution, as these old changers are no longer made. FWIW: Back when I was dealing with these things regularly (ca. 1976), I used to repair them, until I found out that I could just 'phone up BSR at St Marys and order a complete replacement changer for $27.00. Even back then, it was not worth repairing the things. Even more remarkably, back then, BSR manufactured more changers than the entire Japanese turntable industry and they were all built in the UK!
