Item: Esoteric G-0Rb Rubidium master clock generator
Location: Perth Western Australia
Price: $4250 including shipping. New price approx $20,000.
Item Condition: 9/10
Reason for selling: no longer required

Extra Info:

This superb quality, versatile Esoteric G-0Rb Rubidium Master Clock Generator is in excellent condition.  I have all the original Esoteric triple-box packaging and user manual. There are absolutely no significant blemishes whatsoever on this unit, the front fascia is immaculate and all panels are unmarked. It has always been handled with cotton gloves when being re-positioned and comes from a smoke free home.
Due to the weight and triple box packaging, shipping will be about $80 -  $100 depending on destination. I will pay for the shipping.
This G-0Rb is a 120V unit purchased new from a dealer in the US when I was there.

There is no problem with using a 240/120V step-down transformer for this unit. I have used step-down transformers for quite a number of other pieces of equipment for many years, never an issue - I would include the step-down transformer with the unit but I still need it for a 120V 10MHz master clock I am using.  Very good and inexpensive step-down transformers are readily available form manufacturers like Tortech and many others. The transformer also has the added benefit of  providing isolation from the mains power supply.

Any device that you wish to "slave" to the G-0Rb requires an external clocking input. The G-0Rb also has the facility for slaving to an external master clock via a 10MHz BNC clocking input.

There are likely ways you could modify devices to allow clocking with the G-0Rb but I do not have the technical expertise to comment on this.

A brief description of this unit is below.

The Esoteric master clock generator uses a high precision Rubidium master clock oscillator core accurate to ±0.05-ppb (parts per billion)=0.00005ppm (parts per million) frequency precision for extremely high performance of the clock generator core. The design of the G-0Rb is fully optimized around its Rubidium ("Rb"), clock oscillator core. Because the G-0Rb does not have a crystal controlled oscillator, voltage variations and other external influences do not affect the accuracy of this master clock generator. The Rubidium oscillator is mounted in its own temperature controlled and electrically isolated oven, making the G-0Rb one of the most stable oscillators in the audio market. A custom designed ESOTERIC SMB coaxial cable incorporating high purity 6N copper wire, is used for clock signal connections from the Rb core to other circuits. This design helps your audio system to achieve advanced three-dimensional imaging and exceptional acoustic transparency.

The G-0Rb master clock generator allows word clock connection for up to six  external devices.

The G-0Rb is finely tuned through the incorporation of many carefully acoustically selected, high quality parts. The incoming electrical power path is connected through a high quality rhodium plated IEC inlet plug directly to the main power supply without passing through any stand-by circuitry. This design provides higher and clearer signal path purity. The power supply uses specially selected capacitors for enhanced power stability. High purity 6N copper wire is used between the power supply unit and the Rb unit circuitry (6N copper provides a conductive purity level of 99.99997%)

The G-0Rb allow for the connection of an external master clock with the capacity to output a 10MHz  clocking signal. This allows the G-0Rb to be slaved to a high quality external master clock for enhanced accuracy.

Amazing piece of hardware. When you say there's no issue with using 240V, do you mean there was no issue using 240V with your transformer or that you can plug 240V into this device directly?

Are you aware of other devices that can use this external clock besides the Esoteric hardware? I can't see it easily being used with hardware that doesn't offer an external clock facility without hacking them manually. It'd be interesting if this was doable without too much pain?

GLWTS!

I’m currently using Chord QBD76HDSD which has a world clock output and Marantz sa11s2 which has a world clock input

Thank you for your input. Yes, it is as usual a highly over-engineered example of Esoteric's meticulous attention to build quality quality and finish. And it is flawless.

Thank you for your question clarifying the power supply, I will edit the listing to make this more clear. There is no problem with using a 240/120V step-down transformer for this unit. I have used a 240-120V step-down for this and quite a number of other pieces of equipment for many years. I would include the transformer with the unit but I still need it for a 120V 10MHz master clock I am using.

Yes,  to use the G-0Rb any device you wish to slave requires an external clocking input. This is also true for the G-0Rb which has facility for a 10MHz clocking input.

There are likely ways you could modify devices to allow clocking with the G-0Rb but I do not have the technical expertise to comment on this.

Any other  questions are welcome.
