(The designer's blurb is misleading because he hasn't edited out the previous info about his 9018 / 9028 DACs). I had a EE mini max dac plus when I 1st got onto SNA... makes you aware of how different opamps can make a difference. Also trial and error with different type PSU electrolytic with different ESR values. Be interesting if you order without those super special psu diodes and then order a set of diodes from places like E14 and swap them out! I’d personnally wouldnt use high speed diodes for full wave rectification but you never know until you try. Edited August 12, 2018 by Addicted to music 1

Because of shipping delays I ended up ordering the slightly more expensive, conventional version of this DAC (marketed through eBay, AliExpress and various other online retailers). It uses 2x single op-amps and 2x dual output op-amps. This one came with a pair of AD797 and Muses 8920's. I use a coaxial connection via a usb-coaxial converter. The result is very good indeed. In fact, it's nearly up there with my Marantz SA11s2 spinner, and that's saying something. This extends to challenging genres such as classical music, where violins, piano etc are extremely well portrayed. Versus my Toppings (D30 and D50) it's in the next class up, with a more refined tonality and spacious presentation. It also displays the benefits of the dual transformers - better control at frequency extremes etc. Not that I'm criticising the Toppings - I have the D30 in another setup and I really enjoy it.
