That hobby makes the Z1 sound like a "cheap" hobby in comparison.

2775 litres per 100km makes my Landcruiser sound like a Yaris.

May I ask what you do/did as an occupation?

Hopefully not "gun runner"?

Woofer, I'm loving your tank. I'm a petrol head (I've had lots of fast cars and motorbikes), but I'm also ex-military, a keen target shooter, and love militaria!

I had some more gear installed today.

A fibre optic HDMI cable (Kordz PRS3 AOC 18Gbps HDMI 2.0 15m cable, replacing an ancient Nordost WyreWizard 5Gbps HDMI cable, Kordz is an Aussie business, support Aussie businesses!) for my new DLA-N7 projector (whenever the hell it arrives, JVC Australia are you listening?!?), x4 in ceiling Atmos speakers (B&W CCM684s), and a couple of new power amps (Elektra Reference HD 2 channel, Elektra Theatre HD 7 Channel). Atmos is lovely! It really is a 3D "dome" of sound in 5.1.4.

I can't wait until the N7 turns up.

I got a quote with some (sobering) prices today for the anamorphic lens (wow!, 50% more expensive than the N7!) and the new 'scope screen I'm looking at, looks like I'll be saving for a bit ?

Ha. I was just coming here to link the same information.

When one of the world's preeminent calibrators says he will not touch them anymore ( from the top model down), then that is not good.

If waiting means giving overseas users a chance to troubleshoot firmware and other production niggles that’s fine by me.  As a general rule I think never buy the first generation of any ground up redesign unless you enjoy beta testing.  Not trying to say I think JVC will put out junk but just good to let things settle.    Issues like the reversed diode killing the remote control on the first X series for example.

This linked page reminded me why I stopped reading AVS forum quite a while ago, that is ten minutes of my life I will never get back, the amount of childish back and forth arguments about the interpretation of one mans comments was sad to witness.

I'm sure there are plenty of pearls to be found on AVS but usually most of the chat is rubbish, those of you who read through all the garbage to find the pearls have way more patience than me.

Anyway the pricing is finally out and there is only another month or so to wait until the new JVC's arrive.

cheers Terry

looks like sony

is getting the new model 870ES out and about. something sony do very well (always have) with new models so people can experience. something jvc can do a massive amount to improve upon in this country.

the 870ES though way out of league for me, I am so pleased to see in their range. with the arc-f lens from the 1000/1100es grand daddy finally making a come back. and plus combined with laser in a compactish form factor. only problem is price at nearly $36 k ? will under cut the JVC z1 also with laser and native 4k, but makes the upcoming  jvc N9 at nearly 10K cheaper seem a bargain with step up in lens but not running a laser as the sony or upper model jvc does.

Yep, definitely great to see...

I actually wouldn't mind seeing the 870ES .....the 760ES seems to cop ( In my opinion) a lot of unwarranted flak....after having my friends 760ES for a while i think its a terrific projector...the 870ES "should" improve on it in several areas..:)

On avs now........ delayed

NEW JVC RS3000/NX9 RS2000/N7 RS1000/N5 Native 4K Projectors Anticipation Thread
This is the official statement I just received. (I am a JVC dealer) I don’t have any more information than this so please don’t ask.
TO: All November 26, 2018 FROM: Fred Zecha RE: Delay in New Model Arrival US & Europe We have received notice from the factory that despite their best efforts over recent weeks to address the technical issue with our new models over the past month, we are still not 100% satisfied that performance is to the levels of excellence that we expect. We thus regret that shipment of mass-produced units will not be leaving the factory within November. However, we believe that we will be able to make a firm announcement within this week on a firm delivery schedule for all new D-ILA models. We deeply regret the disappointment and great inconvenience that this delay is causing, but the quality of our products and loyalty to our customers remains JVC’s highest priority. Thus we will not compromise on product quality. We look forward to be able to provide a full explanation and formal delivery announcement and commitment later this week. Sincerely, Fred Zecha

I'm headed to Lifestyle store in Sydney this evening as sony are hosting an 870es event. Currently running Runco Ls3, and have eye on N7 and N9; but intrigued to see what the 870 can do from sony.

Will post my thoughts tonight if you guys like?
