minireza Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Does seem loud, but I will just have to find a solution. Can't have all those lumens for free I guess! Can't wait to see the Benq - will report my findings as I'm going to even get a chance to check out a new Christie 4k projector alongside it. Current view will have to do for now. 180 cinemascope (anamorphic lens) inches of Wonderwoman (runco ls3) 1

You will not be able to use that for zooming in on large scope screens. All things considered Benq have achieved an outstanding result. JVC-Z1 by comparison hits a whopping 70db with max output! And it outputs 3000 Lumens vs 6000 for the Benq. Sony uses a liquid cooled system in the ES-5000 to keep the noise level down but the fact that Benq is doing this for the price it is charging seems amazing. Edited November 30, 2018 by Tasso 1

I guess it depends on whether the exhaust cooling air exits from the front or rear. On my PJ , the cooling air is expelled from the rear and it seems really quiet as the PJ is mounted a bit behind the seating position.
wooferocau Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 For those interested.. I have an NX9 "Pre Production" or whatever you want to refer to it as.... It ha "ALL" aspects functioning and the latest firmware to what i understand would of been on the "Production" samples if they had of shipped on schedule . Basically it very easy to report on, as it performs superbly! There really isnt anything to dislike about the NX9. I think JVC have a huge winner , i challenge anyone to view an image from the NX9 and not be impressed. I am not going to get into the finite detail of it as i am not a pro reviewer/calibrator , so everything is just my opinion/observation..... Currently have set up with my Z1/RS4500 and X9900 and my friends Sony 760ES...... Put 12hrs on the NX9 yesterday and late into the evening with 4 friends. A few notes.. VERY quiet in low lamp!!! Is it on ? is the first thought Physical size will appeal to a lot ( and shock others ) it is half the length and weight of my Z1. The Tone Mapping feature will be great for many users.....just about set and forget! Lens control is as per my Z1/RS4500.....superb , precise adjustments enables to the get the focus "snick" spot on. 8K E-Shift.... Supple yes , BUT it does add detail. Sync time........ Quicker.. Yay! Contrast... Excellent Brightness .... lights up my 143" Scope at 20ft throw.....Iris fully open, Hi Lamp for HDR...... SDR low lamp iris -6 I know what's coming ...."how does it compare to the Z1/RS4500"..... Put it this way... "IF" i didn't have the Z1/RS4500 the NX9 would be my new projector! Would i replace my Z1/RS4500 with the NX9..."NO" 7

I saw you video posted on the elektra. great work but one thing stood out to me. actually a couple (posted in the elektra thread re audio aspect). are you planning a screen ? a good screen is really worth it with the kind of money spending on. the other very important aspect I know planing a 180" scope but if you were to move to 2/3rd room depth for main listening position there is no ways you will need a screen that size. as you move closer for the SAME immersion you can use a smaller screen. which will open up options for you wiht a lot more projectors and much easier in the long run anyways just a suggestion. there are some exciting projectors in 2019. and just wanting the best option available to you. ie the widest range to pick from
Spizz Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 (edited) woofer- Looks like a fantastic projector. If only it had a laser at that price point. Edited December 1, 2018 by Spizz

Spizz Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Hopefully in a few years. How does it compare to the Sony 760ES?

Will likely co-incide with 2019 projector purchase. The Room is 8.3 metres long, 5.4 metres wide and 3.1 metre ceiling. There will only ever be one row of seating. Current seating is circa 5.5 - 6 metres from the front, which means I'm working with the circa 2/3rds rule. With that setup, my side surrounds and my rear surrounds (paradigm 15b) are all equidistant; 2.5 metres from main listening position. I have followed the dolby atmos white paper as best I can. Whilst I could move forward, and reduce screen size, anything short of 170 inch in a room that size looks comically small. If I move forward, I lose the equidistant aspect of the rear speakers. Photo of my room correction speaker distance for reference. The wide angle lens I filmed the video on makes the distances seem a lot different to real life. The anamorphic I'm testing at the moment has made a good difference. I'm just piecing system bit by bit, so it's will be work in progress for next 12 months id say. Although thoroughly enjoy the use of it in the meantime! 1

DoggieHowser Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 I remember thinking Man of Steel was worth watching again - when I watched it in the cinema. But when I got the UHD BluRay, it was such a dark movie that I never got around to watching it. We had the disc as a demo disc in the store and honestly, I always hid the disc because of there was a disc that made people question HDR and UHD, it would be this movie [emoji23]But after I got the LK990 PVT unit, and it’s wowed me so much with its handling of HDR, I figured I’d give it a go. Even with the setting sun on Krypton creating a dark and dull image normally, there was enough shadow detail. And when the laser gun bursts and explosions occur, there’s just a lot of pop on that image. Yummy. Think I might stay at work a little longer today. [emoji33][emoji51]

What lumen output are you using the projector on, also could you please give some feedback on the noise of the unit? This is the projector that's really peaked my interest!

Another thought to get your projector closer and help hdr would be a 9.1.4 atmos setup possibly . With a nice wide room like you have a pair of front wides will fill out your room as well as help with panning depending on the codec. Its thought that front wides can do more than back surrounds ; heres a good read https://www.avsforum.com/dolby-atmos-moving-away-front-wide-channels-ask-editors/ Now that the new chipsets are coming expect to see more implementations of more than 7.1.4....

This is the projector that's really peaked my interest! This is a prototype so I don’t know how much of this is in the final production unit. It’s supposed to offer 6000 lumens and in HDR mode, the lamp goes to a dynamic dimming mode. I did notice some pumping when I was watching Black Panther (Oakland apartment with bright white subtitles) but otherwise didn’t notice it. I could only set it up temporarily on a pedestal and watched an entire movie with the projector just over my head and the lens was just above my head! What noise!?

Someone made the suggestion on AVS I believe that the lamp change in the new models was to possibly accomodate a laser lamp in the future. Not sure how that would work.

bigkid Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 (edited) Are the JVC projectors being pulled from market or is it a hoax? First I have heard of this. https://www.channelnews.com.au/exclusivesony-to-take-advange-of-catastrophic-failure-of-jvckenwood-4k-projector-range/ “Upon commencing mass-production of the projectors we discovered some unwelcome phenomenon that would have led to a less than perfect user experience with the projector. After intensive study this phenomenon was traced to a component sourced from a third party…We have thus decided to postpone the release of our 2018 product line”. Perth.hifi Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Epson TW9400, Anyone know when this is coming? Currently considering a new projector, still running a Panasonic AE8000U, and gotta say I'm stll happy with the picture, but craving a 4k model ( enhanced 4k ). Question. - The current TW9300, does this ruin up to 18gbs thru hdmi? Or am i best to wait for the 9400?- Friends recommend i go JVC, but unsure..Want list. - lens memory for 2:40 screen- 4k enchanced or trite 4k- Better picture quality- Ability to be programmed into a RTI remote controlThe Ben q models would be ideal, but no lens memory. :-(
