AirPlay can set up an ad hoc wifi network and so will work when other wifi isn't available. I'm told it can be a little messy sometimes, but doesn't that also describe bluetooth...

The trouble is that both the transmitter and the receiver will have to share the same network. When the internet is out that’s no good for streaming based music since the transmitter is off internet. With BT you can just rely on your internet connection to the phone and transmit directly to the receiver without having to share the same network.

I use wifi on my phone regularly for testing work VPN connections. It works in a similar way - 4G to the phone and ad hoc wifi to the computer being tested. If wifi is up both devices can work on the wifi .

If wifi is down you use ad hoc to your receiver and 4g to the outside world. If 4G and wifi are both down to the outside world you aren't going to stream through your phone anyway, are you? Music on your phone can still go out over airplay though.

Not sure how this ad hoc thing can work but sounds pretty complicated compared to BT.

The bottom line is they don’t seem equally interchangeable. BT has its own pros and cons but so does AirPlay. Some lossless BT transmission would be most ideal.

Not that hard.

Don't know about "most ideal", but definitely worth having there as well.

From what I've read so far, the 2nd SIM slot is only eSIM.
Do our Telcos even support eSIM?

If it’s the same as the 2nd sim in an iPad Pro then yes you can use it to get data from Apple’s telco partners where international roaming at far better rates than Telstra or Optus use

If I had to buy 1 that’s what I’ll be looking at or the Xr at 256GB.    $1879.

They have really hit the nail on the watch, this watch is super functional for the elderly that can either alert for a fall and check monitor your heart beat.   Something I’m going to have to consider for my mother who is 81 this year.

and about time too, the Xs and Xr supports FLAC.

Because people want to use them (?!)  ;) .... but yes, I'm fully aware (as a rabid 'apple person' myself) that Apple aren't like that  :)

Apple have been supporting aptX for years - on Macs. They've always said iOS doesn't support it due to increased battery consumption.

Don’t forget a screen protector....

The Boss and my daughter both have cases and have screen protectors, the screen isn’t indestuctable and very easily scratched.  Both are very lucky with a screen protector!

Ya, when I say years, I really mean years. Since I bought my iMac in 2011. Here is my Mac playing to my Sony cans right now:

They've always said it's just a battery consumption thing with iOS portables.

Not surprising considering 5g hasn't even started being rolled out and the 5g Standard was only just finalised in June.

There's a chance that the 2019 iPhone might be 5g compatible but realistically I can't imagine the 5g network becoming large enough to worry about till 2020.

Considering my 6 Plus is now 4 years old I'm not sure whether stretching it out another year won't be pushing things a little bit too far.....

I’m still running a iPhone5 for work and private...  I’m sure you’ll just be fine with a 6. ?

I've upgraded every 2 years for as long as Iphones have been out.

will be giving it a skip this year. Way to pricy. Only the Xr is in my price range.

Maybe next year it might me a Samsung.

an essential tool of trade for me. so split over 3 years and claimed for work its not a big expense.

we'll be buying another MacBook next year and it wont be an air. probably looking to spend close to $5k on a 15" one :)

Did that with my wife’s phone as her work requires a smart phone as part of her employment.   Unfortunately not so with me as work provides a phone.

In deciding to buy the over the counter 15” 512 SSD 16GBRAM  that’s just been released with the new intel processor.  I’m waiting till JB hifi has a 10% off on Apple Mac.  So instead of $4099 it’ll be $3800.
