ABC FM via a 1961 Fisher tube reciever and DBX 2BX expander

I am currently listening to ABC Classical via my 1961 Fisher KD60 tuner. This unit is all tube including the FM multiplex stage and they are all original. A recent aquisition of a DBX 2BX expander has renewed my enjoyment of FM broadcasts. This combination sounds superb and is testament of simply good engineering. Warm, noise free sound with absent hiss and great dynamics is the only way to describe it. Coming from an FM broadcast transmission background and being aware of the amount compression used by broadcasters I can thoroughly recommend the use of one of these DBX expanders. They do wonders to your vinyl as well.4308a641d30589bdeead1ec8aa0db06c.jpgd2ebe9b15780ca35c2812e0e87c477bf.jpgc8e755b21f0c2ddfff7ee61f8e71c0d3.jpg

I think you have (re)discovered one of the greatest musical experiences at home. I rate my own such experiences (reconditioned DYNA FM-3; 2MBS-FM live concerts, all valve system) as  highlights of my listening 'career'. Long live FM!

Slightly off topic but recently I was playing around with a relatively old and high power tube am receiver. It sounded very nice and there was quite a good selection of material. It sounded much better than FM and DAB!
I was told an expander might improve these.
