Alberto,

I think he means them as separate categories

1. audiophile darlings (perhaps like Stockfisch artists?)

2. led zep, amy etc and

3. moderns, hip hop rap

not that led zep and Amy are audiophile darlings.

I could probably like Diana Krall and Patrcia Barber if they did Rap and hip hop :D

He does rap, so everything he does is about him. (I don't find him interesting.)

Rolling Stones(plainly average musicians), Bob Dylan (whiny average musician), Tom Waits (can't sing properly), Norah Jones (sleeping pill), Leonard Cohen (just plain depressing).....oh and of course, Kanye West and most rappers/hip hoppers (no discernible talent at all).

Enjoy your Burl Ives albums.

I might give a terrible popular band after 1990 a spin -hmmm  Primal Scream or Blur? ?

This is just tongue-in-cheek, so not having a go at you ✌️

  • Rolling Stones(plainly average musicians), yes, but 'style is everything, baby'
  • Bob Dylan (whiny average musician), yes, but a pretty good poet
  • Tom Waits (can't sing properly), ahh ... yeah .... next!
  • Norah Jones (sleeping pill), yes, but you will have a sweet dream
  • Leonard Cohen (just plain depressing), yes, but sometimes one has to wake up and face reality
  • Kanye West and most rappers/hip hoppers (no discernible talent at all), no, they are very talented in promoting themselves, just look at their dominance nowadays

Perhaps they would be better placed in marketing then. ?

I don't really have favourites, I change around.  A the moment I'm listening to early reggae - Jackie Mittoo, King Tubby etc, early Trojan records stuff.  I like 80's synth (Visage, Human League, Eurythmics, Depeche Mode etc), Jazz - Coltrane, have been through metal, classical, swing and techno phases.  Anything really.  Just not Floyd ?
