Now that I have my TT and speakers sorted for my 70's system the question is which amp?

TT is LP12 and speakers are KEF 104aB.

Suggestions on a postcard to ....................

2. AU 5500 - $675 (see separate ad on Gumtree for details)

3. AU 7500 - $780 (see separate ad on Gumtree for details)

4. AU 4400 - $395 (see separate ad on Gumtree for details)

l have a  Marantz 2240 and Sansui AU 555 hooked up on the same speakers.

Prefer the Sansui sound over the Marantz most of the time.

I guess that you have both AU 505 and 555. Which one do you prefer for your Kef Cncerto's if you don't mind asking?  :)

From memory, the AB's are a bit inefficent.

12.5 watts for 96dB at 1 metre.

I think that makes them inefficient.

Driving them with a Copland CSA29 at the moment.

Maybe I should look for a Quad pre- power set up

How about the Meridian 105s

The AU505 runs the Concerto"s really well and it will stay there.

Prefer the AU555 driving my Marantz 920 speakers rather than the AU505

Hey Bruce - what do you use to swap between the two amps, to the same speakers?

What would something like that cost?

Ouch, just looked on ebay, not inexpensive.

You can bridge the outputs on that from memory. Is that right Zaph?
