garyjac Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 (edited) Can anyone recommend a shipping company for inter-capital transport in Australia that will carry (routinely) heavy boxes (> 25kg)? Most seem to limit themselves to 25kg or less. Any help much appreciated. Edited November 27, 2018 by garyjac
Snapper() Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 Try these guys https://www.airroaddirect.com.au/FreightQuoteCalculator.aspx
Candyflip Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 Or e-Go, but get insurance. http://www.e-go.com.au/startbook.do?start=true 25kgs is the mandated health and safety limit, before they need trolleys/lifts and sometimes two qualified men/women to handle the goods. So most companies either stop there, or require more money for the bigger items, as they are putting substantially more into it.
hopefullguy Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 i have used ego to ship subs around 32kg.. never worried about it being over any limit ie 25kg they have on the website. i think it was all ok as i always ship depot to depot. so i take it to the depot and get the buyer to pick up from the depot therefore eliminating the weakest link.. the 100 yo subcontractor with a barina delivery car. 3
wartman Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 We use COPE sensitive freight for moving anything valuable, as it never leaves the companies hands. Heaviest we have moved is one tonne. 1
Berny Stapleton Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 If you've got a lot of stuff (Having done a couple of international moves) I'd suggest getting something like a "move cube" or similar. My boxes came in diagonally with stuff crushed, some of them open etc, they obviously hadn't been looked after, and I'm glad I packed my stereo gear up tight and that was put into crates for transport. Also, check your insurance policy, I lost (broken) a couple of network switches during the move and as they were electrical items over 6 months old, they weren't covered by insurance.

Expand e-Go are great indeed, though as mentioned insurance will be very handy especially for your expensive hifi. I've personally used Barnett's of Wollongong and they're truly superb. Friendly and personal touch which makes dealing with them effortless. And they're very competitive
075Congo Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 If you go to the INTERPARCEL website you can enter the details on the item you want to Courier (International as well) and the site will display the full range of Quotations for you to consider. You can then proceed to make a booking/ payment. The only hitch is getting the providers to state what time they will pick up; usually they say 0900 to 1700 which gives me the.... There are some companies to avoid but lets not go there! Cheers
outdated Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 Have used Couriers Please for shipping ~25kg boxes, very cost effective and quick.

Expand We musta' jinxed it - just had a crate of records for an eBay sale go missing from the Syd-Lismore route, door to depot (my door to their depot). It left Sydney OK...and just never arrived the other end. The Buyer has been trying to chase e-Go with zero luck and of course as luck would have it, he elected not to take insurance, so is sunk......
Guest niterida Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 I have used e-go for years and despite all the horror stories on the net I have never had any major problems with them. However most of my deliveries are smaller items and also depot-depot. I have never had any of them insured and never had anything damaged or lost.

They would be the best courier company with whom I have shipped goods and are my default choice. However.......................things can and do, go pear shaped so I always insist on insurance above $1K. If anyone thinks they cannot afford insurance or is willing to gamble, then they should factor in whether they can afford a total loss. It is worth noting that CP includes insurance ( up to $1k ) in the quoted price. No connection to them just a satisfied customer. 1
075Congo Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Have used Couriers Please many times; never an issue on pickup or delivery.Need to be patient on pickup times but always good value with quotes. Using the Interparcel website they always come in as the most economical quote. Cheers
