Theenitro Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 I just bought this receiver. It’s older than ideal but I wanted the quality of McIntosh. I’m using it mostly for movies. Is this outdated or anything to consider when buying other components? I’m gonna get 800 series b & w mains but haven’t decided on rear or center.
Janjuggler Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Hi @Theenitro As it doesn't have HDMI you will not be able to have Atmos if that is something you want down the track, all inputs are RCA and video is maximum 1080p through the component video RCA's. It is rated at 80W @ 8 ohm, and the tuner is apparently only average. Try to have a listen in your environment, if possible, but it is really 12+ years old technology. JJ 1

JJ I can run the hdmi directly from blu ray to tv so I don’t think that matters and I can go from dvd to receiver using digital cables. I don’t listen to radio so I don’t car about Tuner either. Atmos sounds great but I guess I’ll have to wait until I can afford $17k for the new McIntosh
